I bought VA as soon as it came out, but turned out that superb(and it is superb) program wasn't for me :)

Off topic: I have the Obsidian Ant voice pack, which I really like. I watch all his videos, so his voice is as familiar as the ship's computer.

For me. I like how it is. It not like normal MMO when you button mash your controls. You have to do something for those action. You might get into a panic mode With repair and reboot. But that thrill when it work.

For the basic stuff it is not a big deal.

p.s. I might go back to it the day I go from speakers to headphones

Hey dognosh, I wasn't overly keen on voicing commands out loud at first, but after a couple of weeks got used to it. And when I wrote a command for docking request plus playing all my music....voice attack was set for ever.
Not sure when you last used it but now the voice packs can read game states from the game journal. So now for instance you can ask Astra to deploy the SRV once we have landed....and so on.
Coule be worth revisiting. ?

If FD honoured every binding that people asked for, you'd need a setup like this:

Only one request I have at this moment..
Keybind for Launch Missile.

We already can allocate a key to Shield Cell bank or Chaff.. why not also missiles?

Why weapons have two trigger buttons has been covered more times than posts you've ever made on the internet.

Also going to go a step further and state that's how we would do it anyway. Most controller systems IRL utilise a number of countermeasure options but will typically split fire systems against two triggers and use systems similar to our firegroups. It's much, much more efficient for reaction based combat.

I cannot afford a new controller at this moment in time..unemployment /disabilty and other "excuses" limit my cash-flow.. my old joystick still has its uses.
SCB and Chaff can be either from a controller/fire group or the keyboard. I see no problem with having missiles the same, either from controller or keyboard.

I am 100% not getting into this as a debate again. Well not a debate as much as an assertion because it's not up for debate and never has been.

The words which directly came from FDs developers were to the effect of, if not word for word, "this is how we have planned it. It doesn't matter if you like it". Too much of the UI, too much of the game, and too much sense has already been built around a two trigger system.

If you want to know why it makes so much sense I will suggest you go look at past "discussions" on it, which have had some of the utterly rare moments that FD staff refuse to be ambiguous on the topic. This is very simply how it is and how it will stay. For good reasons. One of the reasons being that it's completely usable for any hardware setup, where having a third trigger would be disadvantageous to people that can't utilise three triggers properly - your point on your setup is moot, and you can just as easily bind a "change firegroups" button as you can a third fire button. You don't even need more than one firegroup change button unless you have four or more types of weapon to bind. On the other hand, want to explain how another trigger button will work with already cramped console controllers?*

*Please don't. This topic is akin to a horse beaten to the point of resembling bolognese sauce.

Might as well throw in a +1 for more firegroups since the thread taken a turn in that direction. It would make using more than two types of weapon on a single ship much more fluid.
