Need to head back for Horizons beta?

Now that the release-date of Horizons Beta has been revealed I'm asking myself, how the handling of your galmap-position in Beta is done regarding deep-space explorers. As far as I know, they take a save from 2 weeks prior to the Beta-Release. Which - in the case of Horizons - would be bad, if you were quite far away from the bubble at that time. As you need to fit new modules to your ship before you can test Horizons. Either you'd have to rush home in the beta, taking quite much time, or you'd have to self-destruct. I've been in the bubble when 1.1, 1.2 and 1.3-betas were released, so no experience with that.
Does anyone know how this has been handeled in the prior betas?

Once you're into the beta you can, presumably, take the short cut home that is the self-destruct button without any real penalty....

At some point prior to the Beta frontier makes a "snapshot" of the current game state. They'll then load that snapshot on the beta servers and upgrade it to 1.5. So yes... wherever you happened to be when the snapshot was created will be where you end up starting in the Beta.
When 1.4 was released to beta I found myself drifting out around 10,000ly from the bubble. A quick self-destruct was all I needed to get back to human space and enjoy the beta.
Remember: The beta for 1.5 is separate from the Horizons beta! Horizons beta will probably be released about two weeks after the 1.5 beta. What we DON'T know at this time is how Frontier will handle CMDR data between these two builds. Will they make a second snapshot that will be used for the Horizon's beta or will they simply upgrade the existing beta for 1.5 to Horizons?
I personally don't plan on changing my game play to try and guess when Frontier will make a snapshot. Where ever I end up starting at in Beta will be fine... if I'm too far away... KABOOM!

The beta will be done in 2 stages. The beta for 1.5 will start week commencing 9th of November and then 2.0 beta will be on the 24th."

So Decemebr if you do not have Beta access.
Personally plan to be back from exploring around end of November, but can still use Beta as save locations different and anything done in Beta not passed on to main profile.
