need your trick on how to find the entrance of cubic station

Hi

i'm having hard time to figure out what is the fast way to locate the entrance of those cubic station.... any trick ?

thanks

There are arrows on the hologram after targeting/requesting dock. And it always faces the side that spins counter clockwise.

Target it and follow the giant arrows on its HUD projection. Also look for ship activity, and the toaster lights.

Someone will be along to tell you the rotational prediction method with the curled hand thing but I think the giant arrows work faster.

They rotate counter-clockwise. An if when approaching the planet and station, fly directly between them until you are centered then turn towards the station. You'll end up with the front of the station facing you most the time.

I have found the easiest way is when on initial approach to the station, come in over the planet the station is orbiting and head 'out to' the station from the planet as the entrance always faces the planet (or sun).

What they said.

Or you can try to look for the 4 flashing red lights in the corners. If you see them the entrance is on the opposite side.

There's variations of this but I always just align myself with it so the big square side panels are rotating upwards, then the entrance is always around to the left.

I use the "right hand rule" -- if you imagine your fingers as wrapping around the base in the direction of its spin, the opening is where your thumb is pointing.

(eventually FD may change that just to mess with us?)

Once I target the station I rotate til the arrows point down then I go under and along the station till I see the lights. Once I see them I drop the throttle to optimal and glide on in. Of course, non of that is necessary if I exit supercruise in between the planet and the station as mentioned above.

No it isn't. Approach and see where the surface moves fastest and you caught the equator. The rotation axis pokes through the former's center. Combine with the mentioned rule and you know the airport's location.

Or you could just follow the arrows.

Wow, haven't thought about the right-hand rule since physics class with currents and magnetic fields. What a jolt of nostalgia :).

Find the rotation, locate the center of either back or the front.

Look for the blinking lights on the outer corners; Red/Orange is the Rear, Blue is the Front

Align ship with rotation axis and fly towards the Front

Do not look at the hologram

Why would you not look at the hologram? It has gigantic arrows on it saying "This way in!", and is by far the easiest way to locate the entrance - especially since you can target a station and read that within about a second of coming out of FSD. I can do that long before I'm even certain of its rotational direction, or even before I've seen the lights...

Eh, I'm pretty good at just looking at the station and knowing based on how it's rotating. If the panel is moving right to left, the enemy's gate is down.

The arrows are not very visible for me, I suspect others are the same. I didn't even know about them until recently. Always used the rotation to work out where the dock is.
