Roller Coasters Nemesis at Alton Towers most accurate recreation yet - [Update 5]

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=THse2gItdGM

Make no mistake, this is the best and most accurate Nemesis at Alton Towers yet. Every path, fence, rock, bush and tree has been placed according to hundreds of reference photographs.

I have the crashed Tour bus, the rusted Ride Photography Station, the junk by the stall turn, the junk under nemesis, a massive effort to create the beast itself...

The ride was formed from many alterations, using top-down reference photos and leaked planning permission images. I measured the lift-hill incline and got it right in Planet Coaster. Top speed of the ride - 51mph, top speed in real life - 50mph.. About as close as it gets.

Update 6 will have the beginnings of Forbidden Valley. The flat rides, the shops, the layout. The Nemesis Drill and other theming. Stay tuned.

This is fantastic but woahhhhhh. That's some mighty braggin' you're doing! You are right. It's great but for someone who has worked at the resort I think it's only fair to point that the lift hill speed is too fast and you're block sections are wrong as the train would wait for it to be locked into the brake run before sending the next one.

Like I said, it's really good but your description makes it unappealing. I would tone down the bragging and focus more on the ride and creation. Just from a viewer's perspective. By saying what you have said you are now going to encourage people to find flaws.

EDIT:

The inside of the station too, for example! I want to praise your creation because it really is awesome but I'm still stunned at your description!

I do have to say this is a very good recreation of the ride, however, your description of the ride has made it very unappealing to me. I would suggest changing the thread and having a new description. Everything is very well done on the ride but I have seen more accurate recreations of rides. The ride seems almost to fast and the stations interior is not on par with the one in real life. It is a very well done recreation but boasting has never made anything look better.

I'll be perfectly honest, guys, I've looked at a whole load of different Nemesis recreations on Planet Coaster, and bearing in mind the limitations of the game in terms of the pathing and the scenery / building pieces available, mine is by far the best one.

The next-best would be "Forbidden valley with a twist" but there's a lot missing there.

Bear in mind that this is a long-ways away from being done, but as it stands, I am fully confident that this is the best and most-accurate Nemesis recreation on Planet Coaster currently. If you know of any better, please let me know.

To Sawyer, the lift-hill is fast because I need the speed. Without it, the coaster would not go over the stall-turn after the loop (which is already slow as it is) this is a limitation with the friction of the game, it dumps speed way too much post-loop.

As for the block section, I removed the station wait time to see what the throughput is like and to keep the ratings for the ride up. Again, PC isn't perfect and the ratings bomb on the lift-hill and brake run.

I don't think you've understood them properly. It may very well be the best one, either right now or forever, but it's not for you to claim out loud. You leave it to others to praise or critique your work - it makes you sound pretty cocky if you're sitting there telling everyone how amazing your own creation is before they've even seen it.

Anyway, generally I think it looks like a great recreation, and I do agree on the lift speed - PC's friction isn't perfect so you have to make some sacrifices.

When I read his post I thought exactly the same. However there is nothing wrong with being confident (cocky is such a negative word).
And he is not forcing his opinion onto others right.

I really like what he has done and he is right about the limitations and friction issue.

I think for me this one is the best one (maybe because it is the first one I see.)

But it definitely could still use some improvement to make it even better!

I built Forbidden Valley with a Twist.

Don't forget that my Forbidden Valley with a Twist was built from memory. It was built before we had the art pieces and the current choice of flat rides. Also, nothing was re-colourable back then. It was also not finished, so that would explain why there was a lot missing. I also changed things because it wasn't a flat out recreation but something close with a few "what if" changes. I've since gone back in and repaired some of what Alpha 3 did to it and used some of the art pieces to improve it. I posted some updated images a month ago https://forums.planetcoaster.com/sh...Picture-Thread?p=166223&viewfull=1#post166223 I don't know if I'm going to carry on with it or start again on a bigger map.

But if we're going to boast, I think my trackwork, (that I did from memory as I've ridden it well over 100 times) is more accurate. It rides just like the real ride, and that's with the apparent friction issues. But I certainly wouldn't go round saying it's the BEST EVER!! as I haven't seen every one that anyone has ever built.

I can see a few areas on yours that aren't accurate and the pacing isn't always right. But back on track, I really like what you're doing with it. It's definitely one of the best I've seen. It's such a tricky ride to recreate and the station is pretty unique. It's too easy to make it too spread out and forceless like a lot of modern B&Ms with PC's coaster editor. Nemesis is so compact and is relentless and delivers such a punch that I think that is one of the biggest challenges in recreating it. You've done a pretty good job of it here.

I'm looking forward to seeing more.

I still have to fix my trackwork - the zero-G roll and final corkscrew after stall turn are an issue but apparently there's a way to fix this with the "offset" feature which I've just learned. I'll also sort out that final tunnel and maybe pull down the stall turn.

Having done yours from memory that's quite impressive. I've gone for balls-to-the-wall realism, that's where the brag is. I haven't really embellished much, if it's not there in Alton Towers it's not on this, and vice versa.

I always liked the way yours looked and that was the original inspiration for mine. I am quite disappointed that I can't blend the scenery pieces to the legs of Nemesis better. You did a really good job. I can't remember if I've got a download save of yours or not, so I can ride your Nemesis myself and have a look :)

i already don't want to take a look at it, due to your attitude.

[rolleyes]

If you take a look at it you can at least give some constructive feedback.

You blame him for his attitude, then what should we say about your comment......

It really is the most accurate recreation currently available or in progress.

Yes but what we are trying to say is that because you are claiming it to be the best it's just, urgh I dunno. You shouldn't claim to have the best, it's big headed and just screams ignorance.

I personaly think Rudi is the best creator on the game but he doesn't boast about it. Understand? You're creation is great and you should be proud.

This is the best reply and is a perfect responce. See? Doesn't read great.

It really is the most accurate recreation currently available or in progress.

In what way is it the most accurate?

The station is pretty good but if you're talking about the ride itself, I.e. the track, it really isn't the most accurate.

If you actually do want feedback, I would like to start by pointing out just one example. And this is at the very start of the ride. When it pulls out of the station, you've completely missed out the pre-lift section. The real ride has a flat section of track that leads to the lift hill. Instead, immediately after the turn out of the station, you got a weird, long drawn out transition into the lift hill. No B&M inverts, or B&M coasters at all have this. The transition up into the lift is always sharper, Nemesis's certainly is. You claim to have researched extensively, yet made this mistake when there is so much resource material readily available.

You're making claims here that aren't being backed up at the moment and even after you were putting everyone's backs up, and they explained why, you responded with the above quote. Sawyer said it perfectly.
A bit of humility wouldn't go amiss here. You'd certainly get a more positive response from the community.

This project has potential and that's a shame because none of us can focus on that because all we can see is your ego. All of our responses should be about your creation, but instead, we're all caught up with your attitude.

Despite what his claims are. (which is a separate matter) The recreation is still pretty good, 'overall' it is the most accurate recreation to date. By overall I mean when taking into account, terraforming, track and theming. There is absolutely room for improvement, but it is still good, very good in fact.

Overall it gives a pretty good representation of what the ride is like. If there is a better one please share, I would like to see it?

While I think his title and description is a bit big headed yes. I think people are unfairly dismissing the recreation because of it. Nemmie, it is quite clear there has been extensive research into this ride, all you need to do is view the video to see that. Some sections might not be perfect, like the pre lift transports but, other parts of the ride are very well done, like the terraforming and the overall general layout of the ride. Something which can only be done with extensive research as the ride is very complex in its layout and transforming.

This is coming from someone who knows this ride inside out, I have rode it thousands of times, worked on it, repaired it and been down and around every single nook and cranny of this ride many many times. In fact, Nemesis and Duel are the two rides at Alton I know every nook and cranny of.

Overall. Other recreations have the pathing and scenery wrong. Just the ride, rough terrain and stick some trees down and job done.

The pre-lift section was noted and is on my "to-do" list, it's a small adjustment that I only realised was needed a couple weeks back when looking at Nemesis' Mouth.

I don't think that's an inaccurate statement at all. If you take everything that makes Nemesis Nemesis.. The theming, the ride, the terrain, then yes, mine is without a doubt the most accurate. The four elements of track I am unsatisfied with (lift-hill transition, over-station roll, large stall turn and final corkscrew) can be fixed with minimal effort. When it comes to other re-creations there is a lot more work to do to get it "true to life" so to speak.

With that above paragraph in mind, I can happily state that I believe that my re-creation of Nemesis in Planet Coaster is indeed the most accurate yet.

Thanks for the kind words. I think you're most qualified seeing as you've worked on the ride and done maintenance on it. I even have the maintenance door and the "Nemesis Kitchen" beneath the jaws. I always wondered if in the lore of Nemesis this was a kitchen to feed the monster? Or to plump up the human sacrifices.

I'm looking forward to putting this on the Workshop, but I'm a long way from finishing. This is only update 5 and I've put in about 60-70 hours so far. Little niggles like the track will be fixed, the standing stones will be added and I'll chuck in Ripsaw and Blade (though both now gone, Forbidden Valley is incomplete without them in my eyes) this will be for update 6.

I think once everything is more or less done I'll do another face-lift of the station and hopefully by then, in April, we can re-colour snow pieces and water.

i'm not too sure you understand what people are saying but bottom line. You're kinda like Kayne West. I'll leave it at that.

Unfortunately no, inside the belly of Nemesis is banks and banks of computer systems that make the ride function [happy]

I have took those pictures from this excellent archive that is still online.

Brings back memories seeing those pictures! More importantly there is some good shots in that archive that may help you with your recreation (if you haven't seen them already).

Doesn't seem to be that accurate

It is not that inaccurate either.

Thanks, I have seen them. Not sure how the door looks shut, might've missed it on other photos.

I understand perfectly pal. You think I'm annoying and big-headed for saying "I have made the most accurate Nemesis recreation to date" I stand behind my statement fully. Nobody else has made Nemesis as accurately as I have - track, scenery and terrain all brought together for a full-on recreation.

Don't get me wrong, I know it's not perfect, I know it's a long way off being perfect, but you seem to think I'm talking in absolute certainties. I'm saying mine is the best one YET not "The best ever" or "the best and nobody else can make a better one".

As of February 16th, 2017, mine is the most accurate Nemesis recreation. If you disagree, link me or get on Planet Coaster and prove me wrong.
