Nerf the Anaconda

Yes I said it. Nerf it into the ground.

This stems from a thread about the corvette needing a buff to its jump range, plus a bit of a personal thing.

I know people will absolutely hate the idea but it needs knocking off its perch a bit. It's a multi purpose ship, isn't it?? But has a HUGE jump range. Well the Python is a multi purpose ship but doesn't have a HUGE jump range.

Alot of people rush to get one, which is fair enough I suppose. However, missing out or completely bypassing all ships once a credit grind is found and then straight to the Anaconda. It has even better DPS than a corvette and can jump further (jump range not so important), what gives?? So instead of me or others telling new players not to do this or not to do that when it comes to grinding credits and using other ships. Simple, nerf the Anaconda and it fixes it.

This will also make the rank locked Cutter and Corvette actually more exclusive, which they damn should be. No more moaning about credits grinds and noobs not knowing how to fly one or afford the rebuy when it goes pop. Take the shine off it and force the game to make you use other ships or other ships for different things.

I'm expecting a hammering and that's fine but seriously guys/gals thing about it.

I'm not asking FDev to nerf it I'm asking the community. It isn't a request for it, it's a discussion about the potential possibility

I don't care, since I have the Cutter and Corvette I hardly use my Anaconda anymore.
Oh wait, that contradicts your point no?

GASPS IN HORROR! :D

Who said the progression of the game should be little ship to big ship ?
After a while godding it in the big ships those players will gradually begin to try out the other ships for more challenge. If they dont, I dont care.

Fdev can do whatever they want with their ships, so long as its not based on forum whinging.

I worked very hard to get mine and took nearly 3 years to get it so i feel i'm deserving of a good ship but she only has a jump range of around 19 but it only has some light engineering and more than happy with that with my playstyle and no grind was involved, i'd say just make the most of the ship that you enjoy using rather than trying to make ships cannon fodder.

Don't you touch my Anaconda(s).

FD won't nerf the Anaconda anyway, too many explorers out there in them, using the range to get to difficult to reach stars.
Imagine the salt if we woke up one morning to find most of our explorers are trapped, for no apparent reason. Lol

If anything, more ships should be like the Anaconda.
When stripped of everything useful, she's got an excellent range. If you make a full combat setup, she's got a crap range.

The Corvette on the other hand, has a crap range no matter what. Lol

You're absolutely right that the Anaconda is over-powered and ideally should be nerfed.

However, as someone who has put a lot of effort getting my Anaconda over 60Ly, I wouldn't want to see that disappear. It's been in the game in its current state too long for FDev to change it without a considerable portion of the community being very upset.

I don’t have an Anaconda and I’m opposed to your idea. I did think about it. So much so, that I went to the trouble of doing some analysis to see if there was justification in the claim that it was a freak outlier that needed to be changed. It doesn’t. It fits within the statistically accepted range of 2 standard deviations from the median of everything I calculated.

Personally, I think the Federal Corvette is the better ship exactly as they both are today.

FDev needn't touch the hull mass or FSD of the Anaconda, just reduce the number / class of hardpoints and viola, it would no longer be king of all things. Jump range would still remain, but utilisation as a death-bringer would be reduced. The ship could even then be moved from multi-role, to Exploration / Transport allowing the Corvette to reign supreme in combat capabilities.

Well after a couple of responses, no one agrees. Doesn't surprise me. It's called balance which early on as someone mentioned getting a conda took work and that's how I got mine. Had it docked for about 3 months before I could even use it and so it should be.

As for ranked locked ships, sorry but the Cutter/Vette should be the top end in DPS, they're not. So yea, what's the point in unlocking them when the Conda can do everything just as good and in SOME cases better.

I'm not asking FDev to nerf it I'm asking the community. To bring it back in line abit. I'm not deluded enough to think frontier would actually do it :p

To be fair, in my experience "forcing players to do something" never works out.
Rewarding them for doing something the way developers want - it makes miracles.

Wonder when is FDev going to discover that :D

I disagree.

Did you ever do your analysis to the Diamondback Scout? Because that ship is wayyy off: the hullmass to cargo capacity ratio varies from 0.64 ( Hauler) to 3.0 (Cobra Mk III) an then there is the FDL (3.57), the FAS (3.75) the DiamondBack Explorer (4.64) and the glorious Diamondback Scout at magnificent 6.07

well,

this thread is only the culmination of insufficient balance over years. Rather then nefing one ship, start global balance, and yes Anaconda should be the first.
