Nested Shields

Has there ever been a discussion on nested or layered shields?

Example, having a Python with 6A shields in the 6 Internal compartment and also having a 5A shield genny in a 5 Internal compartment. When the 6 shields went down, the 5 shields would be active and protect the ship.

Not sure how SCB's would fit into this picture.

Extra shields would draw a lot of power and not be practical on a lot of vessels, but just wondering if this had ever been talked about.

I wouldn't be for it. It's annoying to have crack just one souped up shield to get at the tasty power plant of a criminal/imperial dog, last thing I want is to crack and lol there was another shield all along.

Someone want to find that Dio.jpg? XD

We already have shield boosters if you want to increase shield strength beyond the limits of the biggest generator you can fit.

There was some talk early on regarding shield zones, but they would cover different parts of the hull and not be 'nested'.

The original 1984 Elite had forward and rear shields. It was possible for your forward shields to pop under fire while the rear ones were fine and vice versa.

How do you decide which shield benefits from Shield Boosters?
