Hardware & Technical Network connectivity

Can anyone tell me what connections are being made when the orange ship is spinning? I'm getting matchmaking server errors again and I'm tearing my hair out. Game works great run off my phones hotspot. I'd really like to know what it's doing in that phase so I know who to blame: hardware, ISP, frontier, Amazon or xbox live?

Any non-guesses welcome!

You would have better luck in the ED support forum above, at least it gets more eyes and Frontier support check in too who can actually help you with those issues.

Since it sounds like you're using mobile data, I would not rule out that your ISP filters or interferes with traffic that looks too much like VoIP (because competition, right?), but it's really impossible to tell. It could be an unreliable wireless link to your phone, your ISP pulling tricks, bad routing to Amazon Ireland, or you just being consequently unlucky and getting on unstable server instances. Check the XBox Live status page (linked on Frontier's support site, top right) for that service.

I will move the thread. The game works fine over my 3G mobile data. It does not work over my wired ADSL2+ connection. Its not impossible to tell... if someone can let me know what communications are being made over what port. Then I can ask my ISP what they (de)prioritise. I have done *everything* you suggest about thirty times since 2.3. I am spending more time debugging this game than playing it. Frustrated just doesnt cut it.
