Neutron highway from Bleak Lands to Colonia

I have been coming back from Beagle Point for couple of weeks now and my original plan was to travel via Sagittarius-Carina Arm to bubble, but when few friends decided they will go to Colonia, i changed my plan.
Few thousand LY's after Bleak Lands i decided to try the neutron boosts, because i really havent tried it out yet properly.
It turns out, im quite addicted to it now, as i have made the last 30Kly using only neutron boosts, all the way from the edges of the Bleak Lands to Colonia, i have only 5000Ly to go to Colonia and i have used main sequence stars only for refueling. :D

But, as much fun using the neutron highway is, it has very little to none to do with proper exploring. This is nothing but traveling fast.
Sure, i have made "few" discoveries along the way, but this kind of traveling isnt something im going to use constantly on my future explorations as, again is not something you can call exploration.

Nevertheless, this sure is fun and really addictive. Will post my bookmarks for the route later. o7

Me too!!

I find NS boosting great fun, and you can get some interesting finds.

Just hope you've not tagged all mine from when I took the trip out :S

Yeah, I greatly enjoy neutron boosting too. We do need more neutron’s charted out in the sparse areas of space though to better utilize them for traveling. Especially out towards the “east” side of the galaxy. I’d like to head out there and just hunt neutrons for the purpose of making a highway out there, maybe I’ll do that soon.

I've also done quite a bit of neutron jumping, it's great fun. I'd rather get to where I want to go, and once near my destination, I'll start slowing down and exploring. These days, there are hot spots around the galaxy, where FD has chosen to add mystery and sights to see. In order to get there fast, we need the highway to speed up travel.

The way I look at it is that I travel to where I want to start exploring, do my exploring and then travel back home. As such it makes perfect sense to travel as quickly as possible. Sure, you might find something interesting whilst travelling slower, but that's just random chance and no different to visiting any other random system.

Thats a nice point of view. :)
I have been on the "road" for 6 months so i guess im just homesick and want to get home asap.. :D

Is it really faster? I admit it's fun, but you gotta fly to the cone, get enough charge to boost them, plot a course, then jump. In that time I could jump, honk, scoop, jump honk scoop, jump honk scoop, jump.

Once you get practiced, you can line up the supercharge after you come out of warp, then pick your destination and go, in less time then it takes to do two jumps.

For me, yes. Taken from a couple of random days' logs from EDD:-

3rd Feb ... 53 boosted jumps over a period of 137 minutes and travelled 5413LY = 39.5LY per minute
15th Feb ... 58 non-boosted jumps over a period of 100 minutes and travelled 1717LY = 17.2LY per minute

YMMV

Yeah, it is, as long as you can use neutrons relatively along your flight path. If you have to go far out of your way to use them then it can be slower overall than straight up jonking. I go out of my way anyway, as I just find it more fun.

Now, if you have a preplanned route or use the neutron route finder website, then it can really be much faster.
