Neutron Hops versus Regular Hops

Dear All those that are familiar with these phrases in this order.. FS,FSC,FSD,FSDC,4,3,2,1,E... If you get that then you might have some valid opinion on this...

So you can super charge your FSD... for a plus 300% pretty neat you would think. To the novice explorer that looks like some big numbers. You kit your ASP to a 30+ Ly jump capacity then by routing through some neutron stars to pop a jump that is huge!! you would think... Alas it does not seem to assist you at all. Ok, so you jump 4 times your normal range. You Supercharge your drive, get your charts out, mess around looking for the next neutron star, plot your route, engage and off you go...

Well my issue is that it actually takes longer than normal flight, example, you plotted your course, 150 of Ly of route. You filtered out the chaff stars that won't let you top up the tank and off you go. From Frame Shift Charging, jumping to the next star, filling up that bit of gas you used, circumnavigating the star, off at your tangent, waiting for the temp to drop and scoops disengage... HIT Frame Shift Charging... 55 seconds to 1 Minute 5 depending on the angle of the next jump. At that takes less time than, safely FSD Supercharging, sorting your route and getting there.

To make the FSD Supercharging an assist to long distance space flight those developer GODS need to think about the benefit and make it worth the hassle of going off course left a bit, right a bit, up a dozen Lys, ETC ETC to follow a neutron route... At least 1500% so a 30Ly ship can jump nearly 500Ly in a single bound (450 Ly for those math heads).

Just a thought, I only use the neutron jumps to break up the monotony of regular jumps.

Responses most welcome, even will welcome the TROLLing.

You just described all the steps that makes the player a good explorer. It's up to you to make those decisions.

Some areas of the galaxy are so dense with neutron stars, it's not a problem. I, personally, have managed to travel 10,000LY in 2 hrs using neutron stars (in a ship that averages 50LY per jump):

Practice will make you better at finding, using, and navigating around Neutron Stars.

I'm perfectly happy with the way it is.

Here's a tip though - when at a Neutron star, use the galaxy map to plot a route to your next destination. After your drive is supercharged, select the 4th star in your plot. Once you arrive there, the nav computer will automatically resume your plotted route from that star.

That should save you a fair amount of time.

Just remember - exploration is about the journey, not the destination.

Hello,

I think super charge has just 3 possible use :
1) For reduce time of travel
2) For go in distant star where we need 60ly+ for go in
3) For fun

For the 1, that not reduce time of travel ...
The plotted route don't use the super charged FSD (Neutron or synthesis), so after charged your FSD, you need open galaxy map for to plot 1 star system to go in. After the jump, you need to return in galaxy map for plot the next of your journey and/or try find next Neutron star (1-50 plot route). The jump with super charge of +50%, ..., +300% don't boost enough for gain time in your journey. So plot a 1000ly route and don't use super charge possibility are more faster :(
Ps : When i "run" in exploration (for exemple in mission go to Saggitarus A* for passengers) i stay more than 1min30 in system (like you but i open system map for watch if they are water planet & Earthlike to scan).

For the 2, boost too much the super charge capacity will give us too much possibility to go in / out distant system. Like in this video, with a better synthesis they maybe can come back. But boost super charge can reduce bored time of travel in exploration and in bubble. I think it's a difficult calculation for FD.

For the 3, nothing to say on that, but boost long range will maybe boost fun or not.
