Neutron Star Boost - can´t jump

Greetings everyone!

I´m on a longer trip again and am using the new route planning feature including jumping via neutron stars.

The problem is: Sometimes the boosted jumping works, sometimes my ship tells me "Frame shift drive cancelled: Jump exceeds drive fuel use limit of 5.00 tons"...so it won´t let me jump.

I´m wondering, what´s the problem here?

Things you should know:

1. Before plotting the route, I always top up my fuel completely (for I know the mass of the fuel has an effect).
2. To figure out the possible problem here, I once came to the neutron star with a full tank, another time with only a half full tank. But as i remember, both approaches lead to the same problem (can´t jump)

Does somebody know, what´s the problem here and what I´m doing wrong?

Thank you

That particular message generally appies to the vector your heading for is to far, and or you weight is to much. Replot usng the economy route can usually fix it. Shutting down or deactivating some mods on your ship can usually fix it also. And if need be, dump some of the cargo not specific to any of the missions which may include those tons of modulator you may be saving for unlocking various engineers.

I've found that since the new updated range plotting is in place. Even when not using nutron stars, it sometimes will plot the end star as the first vector, read the vector, normally one doesn't need to read the vector. IF it is as I state, then simply replotting by reclicking the destination and routing like you ded originally will often fix that issue.

So, you've just plotted the course and got the message. Replotting the same course which basically turns off the orange live and then back on, generally fixes it. If not, it's too far and or your too heavy.

Have you picked up some cargo, or added modules since you plotted the route? Go into the galaxy map and it should re-plot.

I´ve have no cargo with me and didn´t add any modules. So the weight of my ship is always the same.

Even when i replot this particular boosted jump to a shorter distance (but still longer than my regular jump range), it will not let me jump sometimes.

I´ve tried different things, like having a nearly full/empty tank before this jump but the general result is: sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn´t.

Really strange...

The route plotter will ALWAYS plot as if you have a full tank even if you plot a route on empty. If you have cargo it will adjust the entire route for your cargo tonnage at time of plotting.

Anyway, are you making sure you're supercharging your FSD on the neutron star? The computer will yell at you when you're supercharged. Also you need at least 8 tons of fuel to do a supercharged jump.

@Spoil-t: yeah, just found out, that i really have to wait for the notification "FSD supercharged" while drifting in the cone.

So the problem was between my ears...

Thanks for all the answers though!!
