So after I heard the news about the Aliens, I decided to travel back to the bubble from Colonia to check them out.
I thought that I could probably travel about 3000-4000 ly along the neutron stars, but to my surprise I could travel almost all the way back to the bubble. It was around 1700 ly before I hit the bubble that I ran out of neutron stars.
And I must say the trip was much more enjoyable than a normal Jump-scoop-jump trip.
The beautiful new neutron stars, you never get tired of seeing those, and instead of just plotting your next 1000ly route, you need to get in the cone of the ns to get the boost without messing up, find your next target in the galaxy map, remember to watch your fuel and stop by a scoopable star and remember to repair your FSD.
It a lot of things to do, but still I think I it faster than a normal run. I started Friday and was back at the bubble Sunday evening.
I think that it is great that FD have applied this kind of game mechanic to the neutron stars instead of just updating the visuals. I think that they should add 300% boost to White dwarfs as well, so you get a little variation when traveling this way and get a bit more options when the neutron star field thins out.
I also hope that they will apply some sort of game mechanics when they update the black holes and the gas giants.
