Horizons Neutron star Highway

G'day all
I heard that ED will leave the Neutron Star boost to FSD as it is.
I was having a little think about it and it will be a wonderful mechanic for explorers enabling travel at a much quicker rate . It will, imho, also promote more exploration.

I for one will now be happy to travel further afield, spend some time exploring off the highway and then have to ability to return quickly to home base.

Good one ED, about time something was introduced to assist the Explorer in us all.
yours aye
Cmdr. D38.

The boost to range will help, but there aren't that many neutron stars near the bubble...

When you're hunting neutron stars, there are clusters of them, mixed with black holes, but at minimum 14000 ly away.

If that is the case, many players will not even see one of those soon :)

People have done the math, the charge time, replot time and re-directing to scoop means it's slower to use the NS boost if you are trying to make time... (sorry)

Maybe I exaggerate a bit, but it wasn't until I was 7000ly out that I found a small cluster of them (face Sag A, head down and about 3000 ly left. There's a matching set upwards as well. However, the best groups are nearer Sag A. I've mapped some, but there should still be a lot unrecorded.
The problem then is in going from neutron star/black hole (set the map filter to non-sequence stars) and remembering to refuel before it becomes too late!

But infinitely more fun. :)

Yes... and deadly in more ways than one :D

I'm preparing an exploration fuel-rat conda (yes it will be yellow) for all those that use the new route plotter to select only neutrons/black holes and then forget to scoop and get stuck :)
