Neutrons & white dwarfs within 6500ly of Sol

I'll be putting all the screenshots and findings in my log based forum thread however I've found a nice group of neutron stars and white dwarfs within 6500ly of Sol. Initially my plan was to head out to the so called neutron fields for a couple of weeks scanning before 1.4 hits. I've done nebulae, earth like and various other exploration trips. I eventually went off in a completely different direction about 4000ly into my trip. The last day or so I've scanned and screenshotted 57 neutron & white dwarf systems.

I'm expecting to hit around 100 or so before I make it back to Sol as I'm a good 1200+ above on the galaxy map. This was really unexpected as I didn't really think I'd find many until I hit the main field... how wrong I am!

The interesting thing about this is they weren't really visible on the galaxy map until I was one or two jumps away. I wonder if anyone else has been this lucky or found that even though you can search "Non sequence stars" they don't always show up. I was a bit worried that all the good neutrons so close would have been discovered already but I've hit the jack pot it seems.

Good find, I've noticed that the galaxy map isn't quite what it used to be - you have to be virtually on top of something before it will show up, and sometimes it doesn't unless you zoom right in, and then out again. Makes it a bit like looking for a needle in a haystack.

Interesting!

There is a zone about -1200 ly from Sol (i.e. below the line), so I'm guessing that the fields are mirrored...
There are reports that the neutron stars fields nearer Sag A are symmetric as well
You're right, even with the filter set, it is difficult to see neutron stars, I start by looking for white dwarf stars, then use them as a search centre.

Enjoy exploring - after I've bagged "first discovered by" ;-)

The neutron stars seems to be anywhere and I am more and more thinking how "real" this is. But ya, you can jump couple of days just from one to another neutron...

My current trip I dived to ~-1,200 at 6,000Ly out towards the core to start picking up neutrons and white dwarfs and sure enough although most jumps were around 30Ly, I started picking them up. Was zigzagging about a fair bit but eventually they became mor numerous and I've continued in a relatively straight line out. Currently around 17KLy out and picking and choosing jumps though mainly black holes and neutrons, refuelling at 0s if possible. Just passed 1,000 systems scanned. I'll keep going this way for a while but want to get up a bit higher where it looks a lot busier in terms of star density which I'm interested to see.
