I don't know if I've been thrown into bad servers or just not playing on the right days but every single time I try to spend a few hours just fighting in a conflict zone, it's always empty. I haven't seen action in a CZ for 2 years now, easy. Anyone have any suggestions? I've done all I really want to do in the game and I only come back now and then to try to find CZ's and when I find an empty one, I turn the game off and check back a couple weeks later or more. I'd really like to get back into the game but this is a game breaker for me.

Right, if you haven't done these it could be confusing, because when you get near in supercruise you get a notification that you are entering a conflict zone. But that's not exactly accurate, you are just near a conflict zone at that point. You need to drop in to it like Ashnak noted, then fly a little closer, and then you need to accept the mission in the comms panel.
I didn't get within 5km of the center. It used to be as soon as I enter I had to fly away to get prepared as it landed me right in the action. I was able to kill a number of ships and make a few credits. I appreciate the tips.
