I got a reverb G2 a couple of weeks ago. That was an upgrade from my Rift (not Rift S). The video clarify blew me away. However, the product is a half baked POS in my mind. HP released an untested product and is leaving it to the community to report problems, most of which they have no work around yet. In short, the headset is very unstable at the very least.
If you're running a 3090, that's definitely overkill. So you should have no issues running everything in Ultra mode at 90FPS. For Elite specific settings, this YouTube video hit many things spot-on. I found that after I turned down some of the unnecessary settings, the headset was more stable. I'm running a GTX1080 but all the benchmarks show that I am well within spec. Even Steam's own test utility states that this card exceeds most VR requirements.

Here's where you will run into a problem. The USB interface to the Reverb is defective pure an simple. I'm just about to do some more performance tests with two new add in cards but stability is an issue that is well documented now that the product has been shipping for three months. I suspect it's a power related issue in that HP is using a hackneyed approach to USB by supplying a USB C to USB A dongle and a vastly inferior cable design. If you get an error 7-14 or error 1-4, the first is USB related the second is video cable related. If you do a search on those two errors, you'll find the Internet awash in those complaints and here's the thing, HP is totally ignoring these posts on their own forums. Not even acknowledging them.
Re-seating the cable will fix the issue for most cases. But sometime a power cycle of the system is required. Be thankful that you don't have an AMD card with a RYZEN, the stories there only get worse. HP has released a new cable exclusively for those systems. I mean what??? How can a specific CPU or Video card be affected unless the design of the headset was defective? Again, this indicates that HP sent this out totally untested on the AMD platform.
Last tip. HP recommends plugging directly into the USB 3.0 port on the motherboard, not on the extender on the chassis and not on an add-in card. I experimented with both. I found that unplugging the other devices on the other USB ports also made for a more stable gameplay. This again is indicative of a power related problem.
Good luck and let us know how you do.
