New AI too hard? You need to change your approach...

Seeing a lot of AI too hard after 2.1 posts. I'm Sure they'll balance it a bit over the coming days but you can change your approach a little in the mean time. Gone are the days you could turn round in a trade spec ship and obliterate a FAS, etc. This was unrealistic, too easy.

I learned pretty quick my d rated trade python with A3 shields wasn't going to cut it in 2.1 after seeing the rebuy screen twice in quick succession. So I upgraded to A5 shields and if I'm trading I'll run instead of trying to fight. Not dropped my Shields since.

If I want some fight I'll head to res in my fdl. :)

Type 9 NPCs in haz-res and high-res would disagree with you there. They can hand pirates their butts on a platter. The AI is broken. It doesn't matter whether or not you agree.

It is a shame if they've removed the purpose of grades E-B - it was always nice to feel an improvement in power with each upgrade, but if we are recommended to go straight for A then that's a chunk of now wasted game assets and missing opportunity for fun.

Lol a type 9 is made of cardboard and turns like a barge. I'd like to see some of the evidence of the above taking out a combat spec ship.

I figured out a new approach, I mod my shields, shield boosters, thrusters, power plant, distributor and all weapons. It is obvious that the AI has been balanced to take these into account. If you don't get modded up, fights will be much harder.

If you want to fight back, yes, you'll have to make changes.

But i'm a trader, do missions, and a bit of exploring here and there. So i leg it, and that still works.

My approach stays the same for now. ;)
