New Alien Artifacts.

Okay guys, so this is my first post. Me and my squadron were heading to a local RES to do some.... out of hours work. During the journey I popped the steam overlay open and was browsing the internet. I tabbed back in just in time to be proximity dropped from SC and smashed headlong into an Astoroid in the Asteroid field... I killed my throttle and as I bounced away saw a spike-like pillar growing out of the Asteroid. It had spiked feet and was dug into the rock's surface. It was black in colour, I think and it seemed to be pulsing a faint red light. The nearest thing I can find with image searches of known artifacts is the spikes surrounding the "Barnacle" pods found on some planet surfaces. This however was in outer space and was well within the civilised space bubble. Because I had been bounce spun away from the asteroid I tried to find the same Asteroid again, but I've been slowly searching them for the best part of 45 minutes now and I don't think im going to find it again for a screenshot. As far as I heard it wasn't making any noises, but the impact with the asteroid made a pretty big bang so I can't be 100% sure.

Has anyone else encountered this before? If so did you get a screenshot, so I can compare it to what I saw. I really think I may have found something interesting, but partly thinking Ive gone mad...

It was found in the QA'WAKANA system at the RES that is 12.8ly from the FARRUKH TERMINAL orbiting QA'WAKANA 10C.

nothing of strange or unusual in the asteroids field as far as i can see..

I'm not sure. It was glowing red. The thing is, I was half crashing at the time and the proximity sensors were going ape    . I thought it was debris from my own ship until I saw it was anchored to the rock. Sterlino is probably right. It's a glitch. Just couldn't be sure until I'd checked on the forums. My friends and I are gearing up for some serious roleplaying. We will also be recording a cinematic style scripted gameplay. Edited as an episodic movie. So we may be looking for "actors" so to speak. Sterlino is clearly local ish. So if your game?

If so it's a collector/prospector limpet for mining, possibly fired by a NPC or CMDR. If not then thats very odd, as above shadowplay and try not to let the insanity get to you :)

Thanks everyone! No it wasn't like that. And I did have shadowplay but it's set to 5 minutes (the length for a single counterstrike round). And by the time I considered it, it was too far past the moment. I also disable all screenshot buttons. Because I make use of all Function keys for streaming, teamspeak, dxtory and shadowplay hotkeys. Ironically I'm probably the most prepared person you'll ever meet in this regard. My downfall was not thinking fast enough. Rather than not being prepared. As of last night though, I now record every second of gameplay and it records at 120fps to my SSD and then auto transfers to the HDD and I scrub or label useful footage every night before hitting my bunk... So this will never happen again.
