New (and experienced) players: "A time for giving" Community Goal! Now with extra tea and biscuits :)

Hi all,

In contrast to some of the negativity towards the 'A time for giving' CG (which offers a new ship (probably Viper- Cobra so around 40k - 400k credits max) to new and inexperienced players), I would love to have some more people participate in this event. This one is not (only) about profit, but about having fun (and maybe also earn a bit of money on the side) and helping new and inexperienced players.

So if you're in a holiday mood and looking to meet some other players and have some fun, join us!

If you're a relatively new player: hop in a ship (a hauler if you can afford it) and head towards Frost Dock in the Njambalba system. You can buy Personal Gifts there which you can sell at Clauss Port in the Santa Muerte system. It's quite a long ride, so get an as high rated Frame Shift Drive you can afford. Got trouble: hop on teamspeak and we'll see what we can do.

So you're an EXPERIENCED player: We need some more people to help the newbies out. I'd love to have some people in Asps/ Pythons in Frost Dock (no large landing pad) who are willing to pick up Personal Gifts, not for themselves, but to supply them to others to fill them up. Also feel free to wing up with new players and guide them towards their destination. Or just help us keep the road safe!

To help out I've (temporarily, till the end of the CG) removed the password of our Groups Teamspeak server: feel free to join the discussion.

Description:

Clauss Incorporated, in association with Santa Muerte Co-operative, has launched an initiative called 'New Ships for New Commanders', which will support new Commanders taking their first steps in their chosen careers. Nicolas St Clauss, CEO of Clauss Incorporated, explained a little bit more about the campaign:

"We need every Commander in the galaxy to help transporting Personal Gifts from Frost Dock in the Njambalba system to us at Clauss Port in the Santa Muerte system. If our our delivery targets are met, we will use the proceeds of the sale of these gifts to fund our 'New Ships for New Commanders' initiate. We will also be offering generous finicial incentives to all pilots who contribute to the appeal, in addition to giving out a limited number of brand new ships to new Commanders."*

*"Terms and conditions: New ships will only be offered to pilots who have logged between 3 and 10 hours total flight time. The type of ship offered will depend on the total number of Personal Gifts brought to Clauss Port, so please dig deep for your fellow pilots!"

System: Santa Muerte.
Station: Clauss Port (NO Large Landing Pads are Available).
Objective: Earn Rewards and unlock ships for new players by delivering Personal Gifts to Clauss Port in the Santa Muerte system. Find the gifts @ Frost Dock - Njambalba

Time Limit: 31 December 3301 18:00 UTC

And a small gift on behalf of the Hutton Truckers if you want to make lots of money:
The "NUTS" wing of Hutton truckers have been making millions on this CG.
Most of us hit the top five within an hour or two of pledging.
My Son clocked up 14 million in no time, so there is coinage to be had.

Method:-

Gather a group of between 4 and 6 commanders, Pythons are best, but a 100t ASP works really well too.
All fill one commander who then goes on to deliver whilst the rest start to fill up the next commander.
Rotate until all commanders have delivered a full holds worth.
A Python with a hold of 248 makes a profit of around 7.2 million.

Most of us have delivered between 500 and 1000t already in our first session.

Best of luck Truckers and a Merry Christmas to all.

All these cool events happening when I'm visiting family for the holidays and can't play ED :( sounds like an awesome little CG.

I would've done this CG if the idea was sensible.

Santa clauss is too immersion breaking.
Boycotted.

I know that the ship will only be for newbies. Will there be an alternative reward for more experienced players? I'm interested in doing it, but only if there's also something in it for me. (yes I'm a selfish :))

Otherwise I'm just going to keep trucking evac' shelters.

i would OP...but my wife and kids wont let me near the pc for at least the next few days lol.....after all it is that crazy time of year

There's negativity towards this CG? Bah, Humbug. If you don't like it don't do it, don't whine. I've been hauling Personal Gifts for 2 days now. Even though FD seems to be making it as hard as possible (200+ LY trip and a 30K LS flight, if you don't want noobs to have new ships FD, just say it :p ).

I don't even think I got my first ship upgrade until my 20th hour.........

For me, this reward is not about me, but about those Commanders who just received (or will receive) a copy of the game. It's not about who will get what, but about fun and helping others. It's about being a community and showing new players the game that we've been having lots of fun in.

And about the free ship: it's fun, but not a big deal. I recently (soft-) reset my save and took my sidey with one upgrade (kws) to a RES. First ship I killed with the help of the cops gave me 200k credits. I could afford a slightly upgraded cobra in an hour.

And about immersion: I'm also boycotting McDonalds because I don't believe in clowns ;)

By the way I'm inviting the CODE, and other piracy groups to do some Robin Hood'ing here: steal from the rich, give to the poor :p

Enjoy the festivities and I (and The Gathering) hope to see you there.

A quick note to anyone thinking of taking part. It's a pretty long trip, but trading in 20T of the Personal Gifts gives you a profit of over 400,000 CR, in addition to any CG contribution awards (assuming the first tier is reached).

I'm totally doing this one, let's get the noobs some better ships and make money in the process.

I've shipped about 140t over the last couple of days, for the naysayers it's about 400k profit per 20t,so is way more profitable than a lot of recent events.

Let's do this, get it all the way to the top!

Wow...way to ruin it for everyone. Good job exploiting the 20 ton limit.

That pretty much kills all enthusiasm to participate further in this.
