New AX, Guardian and Tech broker weapons, am I the only one?

I am honestly impressed by the introduction of these new weapon systems, but I have to say, there are some things about their implementation that have ticked me off.

Am I the only one that would have preferred that some missing weapons had been brought in before this latest craze took over?

For example, missiles and torpedoes are still under-developed, with limited mounting options, no class 3 or 4 available.
Similarly, we have no rails above class 2 and no frags for class 4.
Rails are easy to understand, being as hard hitting as they are, but their mechanics could be tweaked for class 3 and 4, to have a "burn time" requiring real skill to apply their damage.
Missiles and torpedoes, similarly, could offset greater power by requiring lock all the way to impact, and be less agile, or for the largest of torpedoes, dumbfire only.

Also why are all new tech options at class 2? More classes of all weapon types would be preferred.

Finally, and I realise this is probably just me, but Shock Cannons. Can they please be a plasma weapon with thermal/kinetic damage, or change their name to Autocannons, and get rid of the plasma cannon model? What is the point of a plasma cannon model on a purely kinetic weapon?

?

They are not under developed, they are ridiculously overpowered. My shieldess T9 can take down a Corvette without a scratch to my hull. I love torps and missiles because they are so easy to use on a freighter build with no WEP drain, I wouldn't want them to be buffed or more ammo, it is crazy how overpowered they are.

Don't believe me? G5 a few torps, sturdy mount to give a 60% increase to each payload, mix them with Reverb Cascade & Penatrator payload. Fire them at a NPC Corvette within arming range. The ammo limit is to prevent guy's like me going nuts with them.

I haven't done any more than dabble with engineering, so i'll take your word for it there, but there should at least be class 3 and 4 options for each. Balance pass would be necessary, of course.

because the people that make the weapons are greedy, they want more moneys!

all i want is a size 4 APA..

Market demand is a good answer!

I'd actually be all for a huge torpedo. It should weigh 20 tons, instantly destroy any ship and everyone within a couple kilometers, do serious splash damage past that for a couple more kms, and have about a 1% chance of hitting anything other than a stationary target.

Only purchasable in anarchy systems, super expensive, and a criminal act on par with loitering to possess one.

I'm doing that with packhounds, sturdy overload. Less ammo limited and quite efficient. My Beluga is a full missile boat, as is my T9. The small hardpoints on the T9 have one emissive and and one drag seeker to make the target hold still while the packhounds lock on and to light it up nicely.

For some people like you the game is always perfect, and will never evolve.

YES, we need a proper development for bigger class toprs, misseles, MRP, HRP, RAILs and all the another kind of stuff that right now are only usefull for small/medium ships.

For exemple: Class 3-4 Torps and Misseles Racks don't need to do more damage, but can carry more ammo. (This is the diference for the t1 to the t2 right now, ammo capacity).
About the tech broker stuff: Almost all useless, but yeah if something good has released it will probably undesized just to make the small ships even better and the bigger ones worse. Like the FSD Booster, capped at size 5 like MRP and HRP.

Hehe, you couldn't be further from the truth. The game evolves from constructive criticism and debate. You are correct, giving torps more damage is a bad idea, increasing ammo amount is also just as bad. The devs made Torps more powerful based on user feedback including my own, they are designed to be extremely powerful, the downside is that cmdrs can't just load up on huge amounts of them and wreck everything that moves, this is also why they cannot be synthesised.

They are lethal, but due to the ammo count a cmdr has to think carefully before installing them or using them on a target. Not sure why you think torps are better for small ships? With the current balance they a better for large ships with multiple hardpoints, the T-10 being the best example because it has the most number of hardpoints.

maybe because most combat ships have class 3 and 4 slots? [big grin]

Yes they do, and there are all sorts of 3&4 weapons to equip in them. I would like to eventually see some AX or Guardian in something other than medium, but not everything has to be uniform. I've seen far too many games destroy diverse gameplay choices by homogenizing everything in the never ending journey to the lowest common denominator. I'm not saying a class 3 rail gun would ruin the game, but this desire for everything to equal to everything else in the name of balance and development just leads to a bunch of the same. Oddly enough, I guess I'm saying in some cases fewer options add diversity.
