New AX guns are nice! (AXMC)

Before Class 3- engage Thargoid, reduce health and chip at heart, chipping, chipping....finally rip.

AX Class 3- lower Thargoid health, buzzsaw, wig rips in literally seconds...thunder cannon Melts shields and I wake out.

I havn't tried the new AX missiles, all I know is that there are more of them in the rack but carry no additional benefits. the cannons however, I like very much!

if it weren't for that thunder cannon I think these things could be killed quite easily with what we have already, although seeker missiles and other advancements would be more than welcomed. perhaps AEGIS should focus on ways to negate the thunder cannon on shields, and corrosive resistant armour.

Boost away from the lightning. It flares yellow when it is about to fire. Don't get caught in it for long periods and you'll be fine.

Occasionally it is worth face-tanking the lightning if you have an exerted heart lined up nicely.

Shhh!

They'll nerf it

Correct me if you’ve been there yourself, but I’m not so sure about that. Blackmount is high tech - the new C3s are available only at military bases (and Jameson).

C3's are definitely not at Blackmount Habitation. Am there right now, only C2s available.

I had to travel 200ly back to the bubble to get them after arriving at Merope in my re-engineered corvette to find nowhere in the Pleiades sells them, I looked the old fashioned way.

oh lovely! No not back down there yet. Just want to keep my ship ready to roll...when my wing mate stops being all precious about his cutter. Where did you buy that Laura Ashley flight suit Roly?

Are they available at pre logistics support gamma perhaps?

As a follow-up, I just landed at a military planetary base in Pleiades Sector AB-W b2-4, no sign of them there either, despite that being the place they're meant to be...

Nowhere in the Pleiades yet. The only military outpost with outfitting is Noctrach-Ihazevich Research Facility (Pleiades Sector AB-W b2-4), and they don't have them there (just checked). Will have to return to Jameson Memorial. If you don't have access to Shinrarta Dezhra, i Sola Prospect (Brestla) may be a choice, that station seems to be a copy of Jameson without the discounts and is not permit locked. Don't know if other military outposts have them, but all of them would be in the bubble.

O7,

You dont have to go all the way to shinrata, I went to a place just on the edge of the bubble and got them thare, sorry I can't remember the system name and I'm at work.

Hip 14996, Zelazny Hub.

Ok I'm heading to HIP 14997 as soon as I've picked up my fuel scoop again...

[Edit]

Confirmed they are at HIP 14997 Zelazny hub.
Class 3 missiles hold 128 instead of 64 (clip size 12 instead of 8).
Class 3 multicannon has 50% more DPS and 100% more armour piercing.

Time to go hunting :)

So with C3 MC being a thing now what do you figure is the optimal goid hunting ship now? Is the corvette viable now? I've been farming engineering mats to hull tank my corvette and give it a shot but I can't decide on a weapon loadout to try first.

Let's not get overly excited. The new guns are "OK" and make it possible for a single highly skilled WING to take on a basilisk. And hence make it possible for an expanded number of players to Solo a Cyclops.

The optimal ship is the Anaconda which can slot 4 of the C3 weapons and have a hull approaching 7k. As the videos created by Frontier show, the Corvette sucks vs the Thargoids. Even the Python is a better option, and not rank locked.

I've been flying my Corvette for almost a year now, and I've finally decided that at its best, it's never better than the Conda at Combat, and in every other dimension, much worse. So it's being scrapped for parts and put up on blocks.

...the Corvette sucks vs the Thargoids...

:S

I must have soloed at least 10 Cyclops with my Corvette with the class 2 Ax weapons. With the class 3 Ax multicannons I can now take one down in minutes. Yes the Anaconda is also good - in fact probably the meta now. But the Corvette still has better shields, speed and agility. It won't realise its full potential until we get class 4 Ax weapons, but I think it's rather strong to say it sucks.

Whats your tactics when fighting with your Corvette?

Loadout:
Fixed C3 multis on C4 hardpoints - best convergence and aiming.
Fixed C2 missiles on C2 hardpoints (you don't need the extra ammo of the C3).
Flak on the C3 hardpoint.
Twin C1 long range beams. Good for wearing down the pop up shield. One is concordant and the other regeneration, which help when in a wing.

To start: Snick him with your multis then boost away like a naughty schoolboy playing knock and run.
FA-off backflip and full reverse. Fire at the Thargon swarm as they chase you down. The reduced closing velocity makes them easier to hit. Two or three good hits will destroy them all.

Then it's just you and the interceptor. Don't deploy a fighter - the interceptor will chase it and manoeuvre like crazy. It will help you exert a heart but then you won't be able to hit the heart. It takes practice to learn when to fire the missiles and to aim with the fixed multis. But it is entirely possible to exert a heart and destroy it in one pass now - the C3 multis will shred it once exerted.

After each heart, deploy a fighter. My choice here is the GU-97 with fixed beams. The interceptor and swarm have real trouble hitting it, so it wears down the pop up shield whilst you are outrunning caustic missiles and neutralising shutdown fields. Use your beams as well vs the Thargoid shield. Once your fighter is destroyed, the swarm will come for you again. Same tactic as before - boost away, fly backwards, flak. Then the interceptor again. Don't get too close or you'll get caught by the lightning too much - although I run twin 7A SCBs so if needs be I can counter. Sometimes it is worth face tanking if you have got an exerted heart in your sights.

After the last heart, throw out an Ax Taipan - now it can help you. Ignore the swarm unless your shields are looking shaky - once the thargoid's shields drop you can kill it pretty fast.
