New bug reporting method terrible, opinion ?

I don't know why, maybe to save man hours, but I find the new bug reporting section a huge step back for ED !

I used to be able to have a look at the first few pages of the bugs forum and work out what was what. Also I used to be able to jump out of game quickly and report a bug(after searching quickly to see if it had been reported)
This new method is laborious and will have negative effects on our game. Don't forget that FD relies on us as their testers, rightly or wrongly, and when you start putting speed bumps in the way many won't bother to report anything.

1) ED is bundled with all the other FD games
2) It is not a "Forum"
3) Not readable at a glance
4) Laborious to report, remember FD : we're reporting stuff for free
5) Bug reports will be greatly reduced(maybe this was the idea?)
6) Old bug report forum seems to be just a legacy, what is the point without new reports there? Nobody needs to reference old problems !

I am a regular in reporting bugs as I want the game to get better.
I am not posting anymore bug reports.
I cannot threaten to withhold my wallet until it is fixed as I have already done that with the "wait 18 months for next expansion without any idea what it will be" fiasco :D

I wanted to report a bug with discovery text interfering with fuel scooping message.
I went through the hoops and options to find the correct section(As I know it has been reported)
I couldn't find it.
FD : How does this streamline bug reporting?
How can I find the correct section if I don't know what heading a bug comes under?

Stop shooting yourself in the foot....

Not to mention that it brings you straight to the top of the list when you hit the "back" button on your browser, rather than where you left off. I shouldn't have to open a new tab each time I want to read a bug report that might be similar to the one I'd like to report.

I don't agree at all. I reported a handful of bugs if that on the old system. I've already added my comments to more than that on the new one, including repro, etc. I think the new system is much better. The indexing/viewing of issues could be improved, but overall this system is much better than the old one (at least the way I use it).

Edit: I should add, the reason I didn't report many bugs in the old system is that I was put off by the amount of info that needed to be collected and passed on. The new system is much simpler.

^ Well, now you only need to include the main report, steps to reproduce and an OS. That's it. All other fields are not required.

I also think we don't yet know how this new system works in terms of visibility - do devs really pay attention to "liked" reports only or review ALL of them.

But most of the fields remember what you put in last time, like CMDR name, and yet others were a pain like time and date, so partially agree.

I did like viewing the 1st few pages of the old system to see what is wrong with new patches. The new system is very fragmented.
I liked the dev's participation in the old style telling us it has been noted. I also liked seeing who posted.

Tell me something, how easy is it for you to search a section to see if your bug report would be new ? and, are you searching in the correct section ?

TBH, I've pretty much given up with bug-reporting.

Unless something's a glaringly obvious game-breaking bug that happens to 100% of players 100% of the time, FDev aren't interested.
I had almost a year of being unable to play ED due to the Galmap causing a CTD around 30% of the times I tried to use it and FDev did chuff-all to sort it in that time.

If the game's playable, I play it. When it isn't, I play something else instead. 🤷‍♂️

This is something I can certainly agree with that needs to be improved. As DarkFyre pointed out, if you do browse on a few pages, open a bug, then click Back, then you end up on page one again. I gave up on that. I'd also like to see commander names other than "user#1340314093140932309", or whatever we are listed as currently, though the search and view issue is obviously the important one.

Yes, I agree, we don't have any human from fdev go to new system and say "hay your info needs more detail". I also wonder what will happen with all those reports that required extensive logs that fdev needed in the past? Suddenly - they are not required... hmmm.

Searching works ok, but you have to make sure you picked the right status.

I agree that finding a bug or browsing through the categories is terrible on the new issues tracker.
I can only see like 6 posts per page, but thanks to the 96-something pixel font they use, at least I can read them from across the room.

I think if they use it well, it could be better - even with the interface issues - just for the ability to easily mark bugs as acknowledged, fixed, invalid, etc.

But that's only true if they interact with the non-confirmed bugs a bit - either manually moving them to confirmed or putting an explanation and moving them to invalid, etc. If almost everything just languishes in "confirming" forever - including things which have already been fixed! - then it'll get pretty unusable.

The issues tracker is just a new interface for old problems. Nothing gets better with this new system. Breaking bug's like resetting the prioritized module settings would have to be fixed immediately. But FD has time ......

I don’t like the new system. Clunky to review and search reported issues. Just tried to confirm a VR stutter problem, but it wouldn’t accept my input. Apparently, my iPad isn’t inputting ascii characters? Go figure.
