New C-8 slot for the Type-9 as well? Beyond 3.0 is the Lakon Love release!

First the Type-10 PD buff, as well as the Chieftain. Now the Type-9 gets its long awaited extra C8 cargo slot. Wow, what a week for Lakon! Actually, it’s a great week for Elite Dangerous!

It’s going to be interesting to see what CMDR’s do with the Type-9 now which definitely has a much better role in the game. It definitely is better for bulk trading than the Anaconda and/or the Type-10 which is great. It may even be a reasonable (and affordable) option instead of the Cutter! This makes so much sense to, the Type-10 has the 2 x 5 military slots and the Type-9 has the C8 cargo slot instead. Bravo!

If they could only find a way to squeeze the type-7 onto a medium pad. Then the Python would also be looking over its shoulder. That might be just too much joy for Lakon fans though, our heads might explode from the nerd excitement.

Great moves FD, you are giving pilots more interesting choices to make! Thank you again for listening to community feedback on the Type-9!

So the type 9 will have two 8 slots? I never owned one so I dont know. I just remember that they could carry approx 500t.

I completely glanced over that one in the patchnotes.

So now I have a reason to have both T9 and T10.

I know what I am going to do. I will add the T9 to my fleet again. It now is able to fulfill the role it deserves.

max tonnage was 532. This will increase to 788 tonnes capacity.

Excellent move by the devs. You'll be earning around 6million on a single hop delivering meds to systems in crisis. The earning potential on cargo missions wil be epic, at my current location she'll easily pull in 20mill + on a quad 180 tonne run. Also great for those multi hop wing missions and station repair runs.

Crazy when you think about it, the Cutter and T9's cargo capacity is just short of the total mass of two Anaconda hulls.

I love that ship - I have 3 of them - but who is going to buy that now? For sheer cargo capacity the T9 is now King, cheaper with no Imperial rank lock required.

Remaining Cutter Trader pros - its looks great and its more survivable vs pirates if you know what you're doing.

To be fair we have been asking for an extra C8 as far back as I can remember. Been a lot of crazy requests over the years, a capacity increase for the T9 & T7 was definitely one of the more reasonable requests.

@Thesisko. The cutter is a super heavy multi purpose, along with the T-10 it definitely has a place in my fleet. You can trade and fight with ease in the Cutter/T-10

Being able to fight in the T9 requires a lot of experience if you are running a trade fit.

Cutter is still king, it has 4 tonnes more capacity. Though that might change if the new engineering blueprints for shields goes live since you can no longer put a C5 shield on a Cutter. Best get it done now before 3.0 goes live.

It’s an interesting choice! It’s debatable now if the Cutter is worth the grind. You get better jump range, way better armaments and stronger shields than a Galaxy class starship. But for those who love the industrial feel of the space cow, it’s a viable heavy trader again and that is such an awesome thing.

If this Type-9 had been available before I am not sure if would have done the Cutter grind. As it is because I love the feel of the Type-9 so much I am definitely getting a new one and will seriously evaluate it as my primary bulk carrier.

The Type-10 is now a viable choice vis-a-vis the Anaconda in many situations. It’s debatable which is the better ship for certain roles. This too is so good for the game.

Now they just need a competitor for the Python. It is the best medium pad ship in the game by a ridiculously large margin.
