New Camera Ship Blur issues

From the beta I saw a few shots of ships using the new camera system and being able to use the blur system to create some great shots. However, I can use/switch to blur but it only works when I'm in the cockpit looking at the pilot. It has no effect at all on the outside of the ship. So how did that manage to get this to work for the screenshots within the beta?

Anyone else having this issue?

Don't use wide angle zoom when taking exterior dof shots. It's working like real camera. If you zoom more you get stronger dof effect also. Simplest test to make is to take exterior view of your camera and just blur 100% and make distance 0m. This should make your view blurry. Then you can start using the distance spinner for focused area.

This is simple test. Distance focus is 0.5m and blur is not super strong. Zoom is maybe default.

thanks for the reply... I get how it works, I'm a professional photographer in real life... That is what I mean thought I have done what you say and it works fine while in ship look at the "holo-me" but it does not work looking outside at the ship at all...
 
Your blur value goes to 100% when outside ship and no blur effects visible? Sounds like a bug then. Just in case do you have latest drivers installed? Holo me had some issues with older drivers.

After you get it working I bet you have a blast with it. You will feel like home with dof settings cause you have the experience with cameras. Dof is just not working properly with srv and glass objects in some cases giving bad artefacts. So not everything is possible yet.
