This is what I would most like to see in the game - explorers being able to build small planetary outposts or small orbital outposts on or around planets that they have discovered (i.e. the Cmdrs name appears next to the object in the system map).
This would provide a real boost and incentive for exploration, would organically expand the bubble and would be great fun.
In terms of game mechanics, I would imagine a system whereby a suitably wealthy commander could buy a special module in outfitting that is like a 'seed' for the outpost. It could then appear at the next server maintenance carried out by FD. Alternatively, perhaps having established the 'seed' the Cmdr (or Cmdrs) might have to drop several tons of such and such metals, computer components etc at that location before their outpost would spawn and become permanent.
I've got a couple of systems close to the bubble that I have discovered and something like this would really re-ignite my interest in the game
