I would like to see a new class of larger ship in the game. We have corvette sized, so maybe a frigate. I think it would need a large money sink mechanic though to balance things out. In elite your wallet is a one way slide to a billion plus credits, and ships cost you nothing to run.
I think a large support vessel would be fun to operate. Only a few forward large mounts but maybe 8 medium and small on the sides. It would be 1.5 to 2 times the size of the anaconda, slow acceleration, slow turning, but a decent top speed. The balance mechanic could be fuel. Make it take a different type of fuel that costs 5 million credits a tank.
Frontier have already reduces some of the easy money exploits, but without a credit sink any new class of ship won't make a dent in wallets. I think this would give us billionaires something interesting to play with, and the money sink would help balance endless wallets.
