Hi, I'm fairly new to the game. I've played for about a week and I've mostly been mining and smuggling this far. I'm currently saving some money to buy an Asp... and then maybe try some rare trading and heading out to explore more. Have people claimed any "home" stations? It would be nice move to somewhere with more chances encountering other players. Preferably something high tech economy for ships/outfitting and metallic mining opportunities.

I am mainly based out of Fuelum. It ls on the border of imperial/Fed space
A decent system to base yourself out of early is Chuanabosso. It is a small hi tech system on the fringe. It is near a rare trade good (Thrutis). It is also near a lot of good mining opportunities. The BB missions all go to one system. That systems BB return you to Chuanabosso.

Awesome, thanks for the help and I'll be adding all of the above. I'm really liking the idea of being a transport escort, if anyone knows/needs a guard. I'm in a viper, and looking to upgrade.... any ideas?
Viper I have found is amazing for transport guard as long as it's small ships. Absolutely love the non boost speed for getting to help quickly but, the FAS or Vulture are the best combat oriented I have found so far. Absolutely love the FAS.

A Diamondback Scout would be good as it has good handling & weapon placement PLUS the A rated FSD get's you 20ly jump's to keep up with other longer range ship's. Not to mention a 16t fuel tank(large for a fighter).

Thanks for the tip! I spend the whole evening yesterday shuttling between Shinn City (I wonder if this place has Wok
) and Quick Vision, with occasional trips further when there was smuggling missions paying over 400k Cr. I actually found one worth nearly a million! So good money there. Also for others: My GT is Varhaisdementia (same as my forum name) in case somebody wants to add me. It would be fun to try mining in HI-RES place with a wing man to protect me. I could also do some protection on trade routes. I'm currently in my Cobra, which seems suitable for both purposes.
