New Coaster/Coaster Feature Suggestions

In terms of roller coaster types, I'd say that Planet Coaster is pretty diverse. Almost every kind of roller coaster is here, and very few, if any completely unique coaster types are paywalled, the only one I can think of is the minecart one from the adventure pack. However that doesn't mean every coaster type is here, and I'm going to list them so that Frontier can think about adding them.

1. Motorcycle coaster
Admittedly, very few of these exist. In fact, from what I can tell, the only one the general public knows/cares about is the Tron one at Disney Shanghai, and Disney World in 3 years. However, the motorcycle coaster, while it will probably be hard to work with, would be an interesting addition to the roster (please no paywall though.)

2. Special Coaster Features
While not a coaster itself, some coasters have special elements, such as a Drop track, perhaps that one crazy drop where the coaster track tilts 90 degrees downward while the train is locked, and when unlocked, after locking with the track below, somewhat like a dive coaster, but it is an entire train. Also, why not add switch tracks? It would enable more loading platforms, which equals more capacity, which would be cool, plus you can build coasters like Firechaser Express at Dollywood, or Expedition Everest at Disney's Animal Kingdom. Also, Frontier, can you add the ability to make a seperate unload platform? That would be nice.

3. Launched Wooden Coaster
While only one of these exist at the time I'm saying this, (that "one" being Lightning Rod at Dollywood) why not add them into the game? I don't think it would be that hard. It's not a major request though.

These are the only additions that come to mind, and that I feel matter at this point and time. I hope sometime soon Frontier adds these features in, and that we can use these in our coasters.

I would love to see a Tilt Coaster. Would be epic.

It would be. My only suggestion is that I hope that the only pre-built piece is the tilt section (no pre-built lift segments, please).

Motorbike coaster would be a nice family ride addition to the game. It'd be nice to get it someday. The launched RMC would also be cool (along with car themed trains!).

Unfortunately, switch tracks and seperate load/unload stations aren't going to happen, though.

While I don't see why not, if there is a technical issue with the game that does not allow those elements, ok. Makes sense. Fun fact: I've actually seen Lightning Rod in action! I didn't jump on myself, due to how long the wait was, it's a cool coaster to watch the coaster launch and twist and curve, working with the mountain it's situated on. But, as stated before, only the one and only Lightning Rod exists.

Also, there was another coaster I was going to mention in my original post, but I couldn't for the life of me remember what it was called. Now I've returned with the kind of coaster!

4. Pipeline Roller Coasters

While almost none, if any, of these exist in the US, and also very few exist in its country of origin, Japan, the unique Pipeline coaster would be quite the interesting edition to the Planet Coaster lineup. They would work for interestingly designed and themed coasters.

Good thread -

I also think we need 5: Wild Mouse coaster - with cars like the ones on 'Rattlesnake - at Chessington - World of Adventures'. Four to six passenger cars - to fill the gap of missing coaster types.

And it could go on the spinning coaster track (not the spinning mouse track) - for it is a stable in lots of parks and would allow for a compact western type coaster that could be themed like a mine cart train.
Would love to see it - and it could be used for rides like 'Scooby-doo spooky Coaster' at Warner Bros Australia - or other dark ride coaster tracks. G

There's so many coaster types that could be added to Planet Coaster it's insane. My big hope for the future of Planet Coaster is new skins for existing in-game coasters. I wouldn't mind if the developers released mini-packs consisting of coaster skins for a reasonable price... maybe the price of the mini DLCs? Frontier released 5 mini packs. Each mini pack was based on a certain coaster type that came with 5 to 6 coaster train skins.

Tilt Coaster is my favourite type of coaster in the world, and would be happy to see it added, but realistically, a whole bunch of coaster types need to be added (IMO that's the only thing that stops this game from being outright better than RTC). Pipeline Coasters, Robot Arm Coasters, Roller Soakers and a whole bunch of other exotic coasters and concepts. I'd be happy if these were saved for Planet Coaster 2, but before PC replaces RCT3, it needs more coaster types.

Other things I would like to see:
  • Many more different cars for each coaster type.
  • Reverse launch/car direction on Reverse Free Fall and multi-dimension coaster

Great suggestions! [up]

Another great feature would be the option to switch the lift hill catwalk from the right to the left side. Also an option to set how many laps a coaster should tale would be nice.

Last but not least, here're my 3 missing coaster types:

- Schwarzkopf Looping Coaster incl. this type of looping:

- A classic (steel) bobsled Coaster

- A Mack Powered Coaster (the ones with the conductor rail system)

And not to forget: Pls give us some more different themed/styled cars for each type of coaster.

Wow, so many suggestions!

So many great suggestions! And don't forget that even though very few types of your coaster exist, only two 4d coasters done in the style of X2 exist, and while other 4d coasters exist, the free-spins are not in the game. I'd like to add:

Tire Propelled Launch Coasters

Tire-Propelled launches, while somewhat rarer than its hydraulic and LIM/LSM brethren, hit that beat between them, as from what I can tell, it can make a much more powerful launch than a LIM/LSM, but requires less space than a hydraulic. Notable examples include: Firechaser Express (Dollywood), Incredible Hulk Coaster (Universal Orlando's Islands of Adventure). I won't pretend that I know much about these tire launches, but why not enable us to find out more about them Frontier?

I said it before and I´ll say it again:
Coasters need a much needed update.
The coasters in the game mostly date before 2010 (The only exceptions are the Wing Coaster, the RMC versions and to an extent the swinging mine-train.)
Everything else that happened during the last 10 years is conveniently forgotten.

That just about sums it up, doesn't it?

Admittedly, however, a lot of the coasters mentioned on this thread have existed for some time. Switch tracks have existed for some time, the most well-known example being Everest at Disney, which has existed for some time, since 2006. Don't know if I can say the same for drop tracks or the tilting drop on that Japanese coaster, coaster tech has improved a lot, and I'd say that Frontier should get working on an overhaul introducing some of these unique functions.
