We haven’t had a clear “theme” in species packs. We’ve had 2 Time period packs, an appearance pack, and an environment pack. So there really isn’t a clear “route” which means we can expect anything. If we get 2 more packs this year, I think one is definitely in December, and the other would be maybe late October, which could be seen as a Halloween Pack.
Species:
Tarbosaurus
View attachment 364207
A large animal that strikes fear into many, the apex predator, Tarbosaurus was a fierce hunter that is extremely dangerous if not enclosed properly. Includes the CC 2015 skin.
Xiphactinus
View attachment 364212
The Xiphactinus, one of the largest fish to ever live, the haunting mouth of jaggered teeth a perfect for skewing prey.
Gigantoraptor
View attachment 364213
While herbivores at the forefront don’t get a “scary” reputation, this large sharp species, Gigantoraptor, was a menacing creature who used its weaponry to eat fruits and vegetation or even small creatures it could swallow whole.
Hatzegopteryx
View attachment 364214
A creature not intimidating because of appearance, but because of its sheer size. On par with Quetzalcoatlus, the Hatzegopteryx was one of the largest flying animals to ever live, with a beak strong enough to eat smaller species in one swallow.
Enjoy the new DLC with Update 8 including first person danger mode, flickering lights, new skeleton and dead tree decorations, JPTG Troodon variant as well as species viewer updates (accessible when in map).
Let me know what you think of this idea.
Nice idea for a pack, but I don't think the species quite fit the theme you were looking to do. Here are some species I would recommend that might fit into this pack:
Spectrovenator: A genus of basal abelisaurid theropod dinosaur that lived during the early Cretaceous period recovered from the Quiricó Formation in Brazil. Its name means ghost hunter because the holotype was unexpectedly found under the holotype of Tapuiasaurus.
Maip macrothorax: A species of large megaraptorid theropod dinosaur from the late Cretaceous period found in the Chorrillo Formation of Santa Cruz, Argentina. It is suspected to be the largest megaraptorid known from South America, and possibly the world. The generic name, Maip, references a malicious being in Aonikenk mythology that is “the shadow of death” that kills with cold wind.
Secernosaurus: A species of Hadrosaurid that was found in the Lago Colhué Huapi Formation of Chubut province, Argentina, and lived during the late Cretaceous period. Its name means severed lizard.
Kyhytysuka: A species of ophthalmosaurian ichthyosaur from Early Cretaceous discovered during 1970s in the Paja Formation of Villa de Leyva in Colombia. It is believed to have specialized in hunting large prey. Its name means the one that cuts with something sharp in the indigenous Muisca language.
Guizhouichthyosaurus: An of ichthyosaur known primarily from the Xiaowa Formation from the Late Triassic in southwest China. Researchers found the remains of a 12 foot long thalattosaur in the stomach of one specimen, which is thought to be the first evidence of mega predation.
Sordes: A small pterosaur from the Karabastau Svita of Kazakhstan that lived during the late Jurassic period. Unlike many pterosaurs, it had no head crest. The fossil shows remains of the soft parts, such as membranes and hair-like filaments. This was the first unequivocal proof that pterosaurs had a layer of hair-like filaments covering their bodies, later named pycnofibres. The genus name is Latin for "filth" or "scum"; but Sharov translates it as "nechist", which means "devil" or "evil spirit". The specific name is Latin for hairy. So the intended translation is hairy devil.
Nyctosaurus: A genus of nyctosaurid pterosaur from the late Cretaceous period of what is now the Niobrara Formation of the mid-western United States, which, during the time Nyctosaurus was alive, was covered in an extensive shallow sea. Some remains belonging to a possible Nyctosaurus species have been found in Brazil.
At least one species possessed an extraordinarily large antler-like cranial crest. Its name means night lizard or bat lizard. It was featured in the Prehistoric Park series.
Sinornithosaurus: a genus of feathered dromaeosaurid dinosaur from the early Cretaceous Period of the Yixian Formation in what is now China. It was the fifth non–avian feathered dinosaur genus discovered by 1999. Specimens of Sinornithosaurus have preserved impressions of feathers both covering the entirety of the body and forming the wings. These feathers were indistinguishable in form from those found on birds from the same geological deposits. At one point, some researchers suspected it of being venomous, but this has been disproven. It is believed to haven capable of gliding short distances between trees.
Gargoyleosaurus: It is one of the earliest ankylosaurs known from relatively complete fossil remains. The holotype was discovered in 1995 at the Bone Cabin Quarry West locality, in Albany County, Wyoming in exposures of the late Jurassic section of the Morrison Formation. Its name means gargoyle lizard.
Aletopelta: A basal ankylosaurid dinosaur from Southern California that lived during the late Cretaceous period in what is now the Point Loma Formation. It's name means wanderer shield; a reference to the fact its remains were washed away into the ocean shortly after it died where it formed a miniature reef and was scavenged upon by invertebrates and sharks, which why some of the bones are missing or damaged.
Liaoningosaurus: An unusual genus of basal ankylosaurid dinosaur from the Liaoning Province, China that lived during the early Cretaceous period in what is now the Yixian and Jiufotang Formation. It is the oldest ankylosaurid to have had a tail club. It has been speculated by some experts that it may have hunted or scavenged, based on the preserved gut contents showing that it may have eaten fish and may have been semi-aquatic, but this has been heavily debated. I think if the developers add it to the game the developers should make it so this species requires a lot of water in its enclosure and maybe require it to have a fish feeder in its enclosure.
Moschorhinus: An extinct genus of therocephalian, it was a carnivorous Synapsid found in the Late Permian to Early Triassic of the South African Karoo Supergroup. It is believed to have hunted like a big cat. Moschorhinus were the only large therocephalians. During the Triassic period, they were the largest therocephalians of their time.
