What do you think of having a DLC that is based on a new career story with a couple of animals added as we play?
Maybe five scenarios and five animals?

Hard pass. Locking animals behind achievements is a terrible idea, IMO. They did it in Zoo Tycoon 2 with the quagga in the Extinct Animals expansion pack and almost within two days someone released a hack to unlock it without doing the work. What do you think of having a DLC that is based on a new career story with a couple of animals added as we play?

I think Quagga was unlocked by releasing every extinct animals to the wild.Hard pass. Locking animals behind achievements is a terrible idea, IMO. Yeah, it wasn't a campaign but it was still locked behind a challenge.I think Quagga was unlocked by releasing every extinct animals to the wild.
That sucks aswell though. I personally did not enjoy my time with the scenarios at all, simply because its not my style to play the game and especally the higher goals often force you to clutter everything with shops and stuff.Instead of locking animals, I'd lock things like "exclusive" decorations or stands
I agree with all of this. Don’t lock content behind gameplay that many players of the game don’t want to engage in.That sucks aswell though. Getting the statues was a pain, a pain that im not even finished with as i still need to do a third of them, but just stopped because it wasnt fun. I wish we would unlock all stone statues from the start and dont have to unlock their level first, its really just a big pain.
The scenarios just go against what makes the game fun for me as actually building a pretty and creative zoo is hinderd by the fact that you dont gain anything for it. A 2 minutes habitat that i just spat on the ground will be as effective as a beautiful one i put hours into.
Im glad for every one who likes them and im not opposed for more, but pls dont lock stuff behind them. I understand the appeal of unlocking stuff, but thats just a big middlefinger to all the builders who want that stuff most and propaply will like the scenarios the least. Ofcourse i cant speak for everyone, but id rather have archievements or something be tied to it then something that actually regards gameplay so that nobody will force to play them that dont want to.
Im sure that one of the main reasons why i have such a distaste for them is that i felt like i had to play them eventhough i just really did not wanted to. The mindset alone poisoned the dinner for me, which honestly is just sad, eventhough the fact that i just dont find planet zoo fun as a management game is propaply atleast equally to blame.
Tdlr: Frontier pls dont make me grind for statues or whatever else you lock behind a gamemode ever again, thank you
There is no reward. Playing the game should be reward enough, if not the game mode sucks. But then, where's the reward?
In my opinion, that's the point: gain something nice to use as a reward for your hard work.
I know it's not something most players want, but I remember back in my ZT2 days of getting excited every time I unlocked a new theme/building to use in my zoos after finishing a campaign.
I mean, that's why I suggested scenery, because it's not something needed. I was thinking of like a super special statue, like a moving planet with "Planet Zoo" on the front. I actually don't like when everything is handed to me; when JWE 2 got the update about having everything unlocked at the start (besides a few skins), I actually was very disappointed, like "What's the point?". It actually kinda ruined it for me
The reward is enjoying the game and the creativity of it. Scenarios give me neither. But then, where's the reward?
No its not something to agree to disagree, you are literally pointing out what we are saying.I guess we just have to agree to disagree, then, but personally, right now campaign mode gives nothing besides the statues, so it's not worth playing to me unless I can win something for everything I do.
It's like entering a contest, succeeding in everything, and you get a cheap dollar store medal as a reward
But...the reward is the whole point of the timed scenarios. You either got to do something to win something or you are ok without it. Any kind of competition works on this principle. I would really love to win the money in alot of competitions, but if I feel like its not something I would enjoy, I simply dont enter it, even if that means I get to not win the price. Other people who are willing to contest will enjoy the reward and that is fine.No its not something to agree to disagree, you are literally pointing out what we are saying.
If the only enjoyment you get from the campaign mode is to unlock something, then that mode is not worth playing.
And you should not force people to play something they dont want just so they can get whatever reward you give them for it.
Because again, thats not having fun, thats literally working.
You do something you dont really enjoy and get money for it as your reward.
And i dont want that in my games in my free time when i want to have fun and not be working
Except that I have paid for the content - I don’t want to be forced to do something I don’t want to do just to get the content I’ve paid for.But...the reward is the whole point of the timed scenarios.
