New docking type

Hi,

Since bigger ship such as Anaconda, T7 and T9 can't dock into starport, I was wondering if it could be a good idea to add a new type of docking. If we look at how the docking work today on the ISS it doesn't require a lot of space, see the images :

I know that bigger ship should have also their cons, but it could be use also for regular ship, let's say the outpost is crowded with players, that could add some more docking possibility and also add a new gameplay to the docking.

I don't know what you think guys about this, but I think that from this kind of dock you would have limited action into the outpost, like only refueling and see the galnet news, missions too.

It could be also used outside of the coriolis station too, a way to refuel faster instead of taking a dock inside the station for ship that come for trading and so.

It's an OK idea, but if implemented it should definitely have limited facilities as you say. No trading.

Yeah this is what I thought, a faster way to dock, limited action with the station/outpost, so trader can access to the docking bay. :)

This makes complete sense. Why would a station forbid large ships form docking, and so loose out on trade and business possibilities? Also, more varied docking = more fun. For some smaller outposts, this kind of docking clamp could actually be the only way possible to dock, even.

It's a lot more effective than those gigantic one-ship bays.

On a rotating station any docking arm would have to be on the axis of rotation, for a demonstration of why this is the case go to LDS 883 and try to "dock" with the rotating arms (and don't complain to me when your ship gets turned into McNuggets).

On outposts however of course there should be a docking arm or similar to allow the largest ships to load & offload cargo, some of the platforms have millions of tonnes of cargo in stock for sale, there is no way that stock was ferried up in loads of 100 or so tonnes at a time.
