Hi,
One the new 1.3 SDK was released I decided it was time to let Microsoft upgrade me to Windows 10. Like any sane person, once the upgrade was done I wiped the whole thing and did a clean install.
So clean install, Windows 10, Oculus store, NVidia drivers, install ED through Oculus, good to go. Right? Wrong.
A couple of issues - first - OK it's a le - but ED doesn't start in VR mode. I install Oculus, install ED through Oculus and ED starts on a monitor. I still have to mess with settings to get it to appear in VR. And you can't really launch it from Oculus anyway because you need to use the ED launcher. And actually running ED either from the Oculus Windows library app or from inside the Rift does nothing - ED doesn't launch at all. I see the 'click here to acknowledge the health and safety' screen but when I do that I just go back to the fireside.
And every time I run the ED launcher it forces me to log in - and I have to do the extra step of getting the code from my email and pasting it in. Every time.
But more frustratingly - I just couldn't get any sound. I tried HMD headphones and HMD speakers but ED just didn't make any noise. I can hear Oculus burning my living room before launch and when I close ED back down, but ED itself makes no noise whatsoever in game.
I'm still using a DK2 so maybe these issues would be resolved with a CV1. But right now I'm installing Steam and putting ED back on the PC that way. Just easier.
This is from an entirely clean install - when I imported ED into my Oculus library when it was already installed and in use on my PC it worked fine - probably because both installs share the same settings folder.
Come on Steam, hurry up and download, I want to blow up some space stuff.
