Notable that 1000 years into the future the bike helmet is still the best we can do, breathing through nose and mouth in an encapsulated head environment instead of a thin O2 plasma filled membrane almost indistinguishable from human skin. Then again, every ship manufacturer has the same HUD and orange color scheme so someone decided at some point to take a few centuries off.
Ironically that's not a million miles away from the description of the Remlok survival suit in the original 1984 novella.
Yeah, I'm not convinced by these suits either. They
might look a bit better if the colour was extended to include the legs. Going all charcoal from the crotch down makes them look even more top-heavy than the actual design does.
I'd maybe like to see one in all white, which is my go-to colour for exploration suits, because it might give something of an Imperial Stormtrooper look to these more military-inspired designs. But even that's probably a stretch. They look like something out of a 1980s Japanese animation, especially with the winged/horned elements. Or early 40K Space Marines without the pointed helmets.
And you'd definitely want to change out of this into something more practical once you're back on board your ship. Imagine how many things would get caught on all those joint protrusions as you moved around? They'd be a liability.
