News New Elite: Dangerous Tumblr Page

One thing that several members of the community have messaged me about recently is that there is no central location to find out about the latest Elite: Dangerous updates. In response to this I have set up an ED Tumblr page.

The purpose of this blog is purely to provide a data stream where people can instantly see what the most recent update released is. There wont be any new information shared through this page, but for all of you that do not have time to keep up to date with all of the locations that we post our various updates hopefully this will make life a bit easier!

Here is a full list of the things that will be posted about on this Tumblr page:

I don't want to criticise, but wouldn't the ED facebook or twitter feeds have been suitable for this, rather than starting ANOTHER information feed?

Now there are five disparate sources of information on ED: fb, twitter, tumblr, forum and Kickstarter. And I may have missed one or two of the more informal ones, like the staff feeds and pages...

It's difficult to keep track of all this, especially with a day job, a family and a book to write...

hum, what you need is a website that aggregates all the feeds and info into one easy to navigate page so you only need visit one central source to get everything.

I wonder where you can find one of those being built :rolleyes:

The Tumblr page is designed for those people that want a single news feed that they can go and glance at once a day and see if anything new has come out. If you're already following things like the Twitter or Facebook, and keeping up to date with the forums then it probably wont be much use to you.

One advantage with Tumblr in my view, is that it works very well on a phone or a pad, even though the Tumblr Android app is somewhat buggy. Thanks.

It makes the addition of ED to my facebook and twitter kind of redundant now, though. Multiple sources for the same information. :(

Apologies - I find the gamut of social networking information difficult to collate and process, especially when missing one of them could mean missing something important.

@AndyB: yes, I'm aware of your bid for Frontier Information Dominance. Once it's stable I'll take a look... ;-)

Apologies - I find the gamut of social networking information difficult to collate and process, especially when missing one of them could mean missing something important.

scripting issues with the cms this morning caused the problem - next time i'll keep my early morning java confined to the cup ;)

I fail to understand why these sorts of updates aren't all collected and put up on elite.frontier.co.uk which is where I'd expect it to be.

Now, to be sure we have all the updates we have to check elite.frontier.co.uk, facebook, tumblr, twitter and what ever is the cool new web site next month.

Personally I just check my email.

I absolutely agree.
I do not understand why produce different news sites, if you already have a domain that has long been known, and that all trust. :S
Please create a section "News" on site http://elite.frontier.co.uk, and add the ability to subscribe to it by RSS. :cool:

Agreed....

IHMO the Elite homepage seems a bit redundant now... could be used for so much more...

Hate to say it but https://robertsspaceindustries.com/ is much better (although I have nothing against SC)

No one is talking about imitation of.
It is a question, about posting all the news in the first place not to publish on the forum, or to third party sites such as photobucket.com or tumblr.com, and on the official website of the developer, and games.

Woah! Comparisons? I do not mean to imply any comparisons should be made!

Indeed both projects are different... I too do not want any kind of copycat or similarities also...

My point was that SC homepage is a good source of information for the project with a modern design.

The Elite homepage is not and could be used for so much more, I would quite like to see something that is immersive (treating you as a commander accessing an Elite style computer system) or perhaps a retro (steeped in lore) design

well, then... beg pardon me sir.
I am only worried about some useless expectations and comparisons within the two wonderful projects.

And, yeah.. may be it's the start.. don't worry they will fix step by step the site with every news.
Maybe also there will be a totally different home page soon or later when they will have something of more ''satisfying'' to show (game engine, new ships or whatever).
Sure it will take a long time, so we must have patience a little bit.

Bytheway i like simply, user friendly and easy access site instead a techno full of graphics twister that stuck my poor pc ram .. lol
