New engineers - LOVE IT

I am most curious about the new variety of experimental effects that replace the random side effects. Might yield some interesting combinations.

Yep 100% agree looks 100% more attractive than the "4 hours of rolling to get a god roll" whingers, plus I can do away with having to find that stupidly rare item by just SRV hooning about and gathering mats. Even the ignore option in asteroids, means you can gio mine for 20 mins and just collect mats to then exchange for what you really need.

Bloody brilliant!

So, what was the new system. I missed it. Are the same options available? IE, same results different methods?

When will the engineer changes be implemented on live servers? (assuming they haven't been implemented already)

Yep, the new system looks great!
I think that a grind to god rolls will take just as long as before (so I expect min-maxers to set the forums on fire any moment now), but for average player like me, it means I can experiment and get better results than before much faster.

Love it.

Special effects are not random, but can be purchased. They will stay when you further upgrade. Each roll is always better, and you go from G1 to G5 per module. You can store 100 per type of data/mat, and trade for stuff you dont have. So basically just play the game, collect what you get, trade for what you dont and get guaranteed upgrades for your stuff. You can also keep upgrading stuff away from engineer bases, but then you cant buy special effects.

But something something dont like exploring/SRV/mining/missions/CZ/RES or anything lese something something grind something something not competitive something something respect my time.

Yeah I have done a lot of engineering myself and I think that the framework they presented today is much better. I am sure Frontier will tweak some of the numbers involved as they get feedback during the beta. But I do want Sandro and co. to know that I am on board with this direction.

I can’t wait to see what the secondary effects could be for non-weapon modules!

I like the new system, but from what we've been shown so far, grandfathering is going to be a major problem without more adjustments.

From the few grades of engineering they showed, the primaries in the new system are 10-15% better than the old ones...however, current secondaries can dwarf that advantage, overall.

I think if the secoondaries are REALLY good, they will break even with the new system.
Basically what Sandro says - "If you have an awesome roll, keep it. If you have anything less, you're going to be better off re-rolling."

*Edited* What Chris said! ^^

I much prefer the idea that negative effects are static and all rolls will improve stats, never fluctuate.
