New Expolration Data Payout & Values

Hey guys

Was just watching CMDR MINIs video and he mentioned that the exploration data payouts were going up (which i knew) but that the payout increase would only apply to exploration data collected after the beta goes live. Mini seems to know his stuff so i don't doubt hes wrong but i hadn't heard that and was wondering if anyone else had?

I'm out in the black myself right now and am ready to come back, was going to hang on and time it so that i'd get back in time for the increase but if it doesn't matter to the data i have collected then i'll just come back now.

If it is true i find it strange, in the real world market values change all the time, if you bought gold and the price goes down you lose out same as if it goes up you'd make money, the fact the price of data goes up whilst im away seems like a perfectly everyday scenario to me and therefore it should count. Not overly concerned about the money but the value of the data drives the rank and that's what i'm after. Still think it should be distance driven myself, how can data from 21ly away be worth the same as data from beagle point.

That is indeed correct.

I have suspicions that exploring will become a whole lot more dangerous come 2.4 (aliens!) and therefore prices will go up.

Alternatively it could just be gameplay to stop those with millions of exploration data vaults instantly getting massive bonuses. Last year for example I had approx 250mil of data stored and used the LYR powerplay bonus to make that 750mil. If that'd have increased I may have been in line for something like 2 billion credits or more....
