Forgive me if I’m wrong but, are you saying all that instant stuff as a way of implying that you believe that there should be some kind of timegate for repairs and refueling?
No, that's not what is being said, though there are some who would insist these would be Good Things.
I don't entirely disagree. If refueling something like a Beluga took 2-3 minutes from empty (that's a 128 ton fuel tank), I'd be alright with that. If nothing else, it gives any of us 2-3 minutes to stand up, move around and prevent deep vein thrombosis. No doctor out there would say it's a bad thing to get up and move around once in a while.
Repairs... I could be swayed easily to either side. There is one part of me that says extensive repairs of a star ship should be time-consuming. The game allows us to have many ships, and I am one of those who does have many ships.
71 ships to be exact. I didn't even realize how many I had. Nice new feature.
If I had to park a badly damaged ship for an hour, or even a day or three, I wouldn't be terribly put out by this. On the other hand, I can see how this could be severely detrimental to new commanders, or commanders with few or no alternate ships, having to wait. I suppose the most happy medium would be to split the difference - pay your rebuy cost to fully repair your ship right now and go back to whatever you were doing to damage it so badly, or pair the regular repair cost and wait. Wait time would be different for each ship. Small ships might take 10-30 minutes, medium ships 30 minutes to a day, large ships 1-3 days, depending on the amount of damage (basing this on 1% hull and 1% module heath). Obviously less damage could be repaired in much less time.
But I'm not calling for any changes - just that I wouldn't object to them, as long as they were reasonable and still allowed for rush work, for those with either no patience or no time. I get that some people only get 15 minutes a week to play - I've heard them go on about it for years around here. I get it. I also get some people simply cannot wait, and even instant is too slow for them.
The rest of us, well... we manage.
