New feature or just new to me?

Whilst out in the black searching forn some very specific mats I came across a new feature....or at least it's new to me.

Debris fields, not seen one of these before and it's a feature I thought would be a cool addition to ED and had suggested these on here before.

Cool I thought, let's check it out. I drop in and see a debris field, a few hundred metres across. Ok, thought it would be a lot bigger, it looks like a slightly more densely packed degraded emission USS.

I fly in and check the contacts, three grade 1 materials are the only thing in the area.

So I figured I might be missing something and thought I'd hang around for a while to see if anyone shows up? Nobody showed up, there was nothing else to see, just three grade one mats.

The system had a few debris fields present so I figured it's RNG, maybe I got unluck with this one. I fly to the next one, drop in, same thing but two grade 1 mats and one grade 2 mat, I wait, nobody shows up.

I then spend about an hour flying to each of the debris fields in a kind of circuit to see if anything changed, it didn't, just the types of mats that spawned and their grade which was never above grade 2.

A few questions, I figured these appear after conflict zones have been completed, seems logical...is that the case?

I've not seen or heard anything on this before so apologies if it's old news, is there some game play attached to these debris fields?

Have I been unlucky? Am I missing something?

Should be awesome stuff, and scavenger NPCs with raider kits.

Yeah it should....it's not.

Another wasted opportunity to add some interesting environments and game play. This shows such a lack of creativity or understanding on how to engage your players.

This is a classic example of a 'minimum viable' release and barely qualifies as placeholder yet I get the feeling this is working as intended. *sigh*

They've been in-game a while now.

But I have noticed an increase in their number since 3.0 dropped. I tend to frequent the collection of systems around Cubeo, and several of them are now sporting debris fields, where none existed before in 2.4.

Too bad these things don't offer better mats than they do.
