New Functionality - Navigation

The shortest path between two points in spacetime isn't 75% throttle: It's a curve.

I suggest very-much fleshed out Navigation interface for route planning. A system map of all known gravity wells would be the basis for a sort of minigame that could map a path between any two (or more) points in that system. The minigame, and therefore the mapped route, would take into account gravity well and ship velocity (and perhaps supercruise agility) to produce a on-HUD route for your CMDR to follow that would represent the quickest route to your destination. The quickest you were able to map out at least, based on your success in the minigame.

Now, does that sound like something the average CMDR would take the time to do after jumping into a system? Not really? Maybe just in niche cases? I think so too, and that's part of the appeal: Have a crewman do it for you!

Do you have an NPC crewmate who just absorbs income, aside from the few times you send them out in their SLF? Well, now they'll be able to produce navigation maps for you, based on their ranking. Or maybe you're multicrewing. Does your human comrade get bored while you're in supercruise? They can access the Navigation system and work out how to best slingshot around that gas giant and its moons, and into the HazRES.

The Nav system could also be used for interstellar travel, with a similar minigame used to map routes between stars. The better your (or your crewman's, or your multicrew member's) success at trying to plot a slingshotting path between stars, the more simultaneous hyperjumps you can accomplish in a single charge of your FSD (normal fuel consumption applies).

Aside from a benefit to those trying to maximize their credits-per-hour in trading, or get to a port as quickly as possible without getting interdicted, this could be very useful for sightseeing explorers, would add a bit more functionality to multicrew, and add some usefulness for otherwise idle NPC crew. Might even find some use in other areas, like Buckyball style racing.
