New gaming PC- checking specs

Hi everyone, I currently play on a laptop that is at the minimum end of the requirements. Copes pretty well fine though I do set everything to lowest quality etc and it does get a bit laggy when my zoo gets larger. Found a gaming PC that I like the look of. I’m not a huge gamer, I simply like to play Planet zoo and planet coaster. Will this computer be ok for me to play on higher quality than I do currently?

I would look for something more up to date.

2nd Generation i5 are relatively old and slow (2011) and I would advise for something newer than a GT710.

(recommended is a 2nd gen i5 (i5-2500) but you can get better for relatively low prices)

Yes and no. GTX 1650 should be good enough for the coming years.
2nd gen i5 not so. I wouldn't pick anything before 5th generation.

O, and I should buy in a retail store (where people really know their thing about computers) and not ebay.
Many products on Ebay are overpriced.

The same reason is why I think you shouldn't pick a 2nd gen CPU. You'll need a new one in a few years time, because this one will become outdated rather quickly.
A 10 year old CPU is not a good idea IMO.

Thank you. I am clueless about computer specs, I don’t know which are better and which aren’t.

Unfortunately I am on a budget so I really can’t afford anything too extravagant. I’m not a big gamer, I just like a couple of games.

I have found a computer on a shop site-
Intel Core i7 3rd gen.
Nvidia GTX1650 4GB
16GB RAM
Windows 10

Is this more like it?

Can anyone please help with the last specs I put?
I found a website that you typed the specs in and it said whether you could play the game, but it’s asking for numbers after the CPU bit and I can’t find the numbers for the i7 3rd generation. Ideally want to order it today.

i7 should be fine, but again 3rd generation is still some while back when it was released (2012).
Considering they are already in their 8th or 9th generation, I'd still be looking something relatively newer.

I have a i5-6500 (6th gen) which is relatively cheap and pretty up to today standards.
I used to have a i5-3470 (i5 3rd gen) which was relatively okay in running Planet Coaster, but once I got the i5-6500 it was an entirely other world in words of performance.
As Planet Zoo is a continuation of that engine and looks/feels relatively the same, I'm sure I would have struggled with my i5-3470.

i7 3rd gen fits within the minimum specs, however, you still need the follow up numbers, as there are quite a bit of variations, for all we know, you might end up with least powerfull one of that spec range.

I'm sure it will run the game, but "i7 3rd gen" just doesn't give enough information of how well it will run the game.
Maybe someone else has experience with it.

In other words, I would advise against, but it would be nice if someonelse could contribute and give additional advice which could be useful to you. (y)

These are always the things I tend to have a good look at what I'm buying, and if necessary just postpone it a little bit, untill I'm fully sure of what I want and if necessary have the additional funds for it if needed.

Thank you so much for taking the time to help me. I’ve managed to find that it’s i7 2600 (??) and 3.4GHZ.

I wish I understood what all these numbers are!

I can appreciate getting lost in all these part names and such, but I think your best approach is simply to do a lot of googling. You have two halves to this, one is performance, and one is price, and you can basically take each part from the PC, check out a few places to see how much that part costs alone, and also what other contexts you see it used in. I would like to offer more specific advice about these exact parts, but there are so many parts that nobody has all that in their head and googling them is all I would do, and probably you'll get a better idea of what works for you and what not if you do that directly.
