New GGG?

I found this greenish Class III GG that looks like the spitting image of Minotaur's Treasure - a well established GGG on GEC. But the description doesn't match that of a standard GGG (no "this particular", "luminous vapor" or “vivid coloration” etc.). Also this "GGG" doesn't count towards the codex entry. So I was wondering is this even a real GGG?

Thanks for the prompt reply! I was confused because I missed the tiny green spots on Minotaur and I had heard that some GGGs don't trigger the codex event. Correct me if I'm wrong but from what I read on the forums:
  • If it HAS neon green bands or spots and it IS in the codex, it's a GGG
  • If it HAS neon green bands or spots and it ISN'T in the codex, it's still a GGG (despite a codex bug i.e. Water-based life)
  • If it DOESN'T HAVE neon green bands or spots but it IS in the codex, it's still a GGG (because of a codex bug i.e. Crimson Bayou)
  • Surface temp floating point magic??? The 30 degree step theory for hot Class III seems legit.
This greenish GG is 704.488953 - just a bit off from Minotaur's 700.
Also is there a way to lookup the surface temp down to six decimals without travelling there and browsing the log file?

Sure, those are Green Gas Giants with Water-based Life. The Codex is bugged for those and they won't register. You wrote that yours is a Class III gas giant instead, for which the Codex works fine, so if yours were a GGG, the Codex would have popped.

You also wrote earlier that the description didn't have the extra parts ("this particular" and so on) that all GGGs have. That's what you should look for. If it's there, the game recognizes it as a GGG. If it isn't, then it doesn't.

Oh, and something else that's good to know: in the Galactic Centre and Ryker's Hope regions, all GGGs spawn Notable Stellar Phenomena (K10-Type Anomalies). So that's a quick way of telling if there's one in the system.

If memory serves, Orvidius recently changed EDAstro's processed data to have the correct precision. (Also to fix some problems with zeros.) You can look things up at https://edastro.com/mapcharts/files.html.

Thanks for clearing that up for me. I'll check it out. Too bad there isn't a dedicated guide to this, because there is a whole lot of information that you just have to know when you go GGG hunting.

would that one qualify ?
Need more info. Check the sysmap description, it should include words such as "This particular gas giant..." +/or "Bioluminescent life" +/or "vivid colouration" +/or "Luminous vapour" if it's a real GGG. Most green GG's aren't glowing. Also check the Codex for an entry, depending on a few qualifiers - see Marx above. Good luck.
