OK so I decided to go exploring some of the new guardian ruins, and I got attacked by some nasty skimmers. Iced three of them and salvaged all sorts of weird artefacts. Also scanned some of the obelisks, I haven't found these pylons I've heard about yet though so I'm gonna check out somne of the other sites. Probably going to be doing some regular streams so check me out on twitch, Ronin_Yojimbo, if you want to watch and hear me chat nonsense while performing some destructive archaeology for fun and profit.
One thing I really like about the new guardian stuff is the fact that the directionlessness has been replaced with some logical puzzles - The symbols on the obelisks which I'm pretty sure relate to the combination of artefacts needed to decode them for instance. Now I'm hoping that it doesn't all reset after a week because it might take me longer than that to match symbols to artefacts etc etc.
Another thing I liked was the fact that GalNet had Ram Tah's message about where to find the guardian ruins, and flying to those systems and having a quick scout about the planets allowed me to find them on my own, only using in-game clues. THIS is what I've wanted since the beginning. I feel like I am actually creating my own story now, rather than reliving someone else's on the Internet.
I REALLY hope this is a forerunner of things to come, with clues leading to generation ships and shenanigans in the formidine rift. FDev, you've got me excited; don't let me down.
UPDATE: And I've just heard that tomorrow is a snow day so I guess I'll be streaming elite all day!
