PvP New guy seeking clarification

OK, New guy looking for some coin to get going.
I see alot of vids saying to "bounty hunt" well not really but.......
So I sit in the belt, Local enforcement start to take out a ship, I jump in with my little sidewinder
I get some bounties, others I get nothin


I got another ship, and continued on this way untill........
I get rammed by another player, ask in local and no reply
Life is life , no big deal, I move on

Tonite Im out there and I get rammed again. 1st I see if I can evade, he misses me a few times, then i ask in local whats the deal?
No reply
So I let him kill me

Am I missing some form of protocall?
Are they upset that Im doing this?
Are they just being ats?

I dont know, please explain so I can adjust.

Is this at the CG? Sounds like you're in the High Res site since you have cop support. Best way for a noob to avoid griefers is to play in solo or private. Or you can block ("block" list in comms) this guy if its the same guy ramming you. if you're against that, then find a friendly CMDR to wing up with.

you're doing nothing wrong.

ramming is the one way to deal damage without breaking the law (except near stations), so my guess is they're just playing you, or trying to ram you to death for the giggles without getting a bounty. if you shoot back you'll get a fine or get wanted yourself. just evade and play them instead.

also be warned the chat doesn't work very well and is pretty messy, odds are your message got overlooked between all the junk or didn't even get through. try direct message / voice comms, although those are flaky as hell too ...

Without getting the full picture, I can assume you're competing for bounties. Instead of inviting you to their wing (which is what I always do), they try to drive you off instead. Since you're new, maybe they are inviting you to their wing and you dont see the invite? That's the only protocol I can think of here.

See #1... I have been in that situation myself, happily testing a new Chieftain build in a HazRes when the same Cmdr kept jumping in on my target when it got close to being finished, and nicking 'my bounty'. Yes, those were my bounties. I did all the wirk and s/he jumped in at the last minute. When there was no response to my message, I rammed her until she fled. Were you jumping in on someone else's prey?

Seemingly contradictory statement here. By wanted players do you mean NPC pirates?

From your description:

It could be that these other Cmdrs are doing similar to you, if you don't get a bounty for a hit on a wanted ship, it's probably because another Cmdr got the last shot, and that is what counts unless you are in a wing. The times when you did get a bounty, could be you were unwittingly 'kill stealing'.

Move to solo for the duration of your bounty hunting, you should then get a bounty for every ship you hit.

Lol, that's pretty naive if you think being wanted will make their day miserable. My PvP ships are pretty much always wanted and it basically means nothing to me. The only time it matters is when people try to play station games with me.

Why do you stay clear of PvP? Why have such little confidence in your own abilities? You can pve just fine, what makes you think you can't PvP?

Many have asked you if you were in CG and you have yet to answer. Thats a pretty big piece of information that would answer your somewhat ridiculous question.

I stay clear of those I see in their own PVP battles, not going to intrude on their fun
