PvP New guy seeking clarification

In this latest installation of the Cat in the Hat's Learning Library, the Cat takes Sally and to explore different kinds of deserts around the world

Because PVP is the best kind of P.

Dunno, maybe you had an offensive ship name?

Per the acronym guide CG = ComunityGoal ???
I was a High Resource area of a ring. Players (human) with bounties (wanted) show up (not sure why? to rob the miners? PvE against the Local Authorities?)
Th local authoritied (game police) attack those (humans) that are wanted or commit a 'crime'. When they are down to hull damage I fire a shot or two at them. When the police kill them sometimes I get the bountiy.

Yes, Community Goal.
Were you in a Community Goal system?

If you don't know then why don't you just say so? 2 pages of people asking if you were at the CG and you don't even acknowledge them. Seems rather suspicious.

If you shoot at any human for any reason, you should expect them to shoot back.

It's also very easy to get wanted, even while doing legit bounty hunting, in RES.
That person might have been a noob, too.
(Sounds like it to me, tbh.)

They might very well be thinking you killed them unjustly, based on what you've shared.
(I would heartily disagree, but I'm mean like that apparently!)

It is wise to treat any hollow icon as hostile until you know different.
Even a friendly greeting might have nefarious intent.
That's a big part of the fun to many people, including many that have no interest in combat.

You were in open. People can attack you in open.
For many reasons, none of which are relevant. It's part of the game design, it is allowed.
People can attack you in open. That's it.

I'm beginning to think this guy is trolling us with his ambiguous answers. Does he not know what a CG is? Does he always refer to NPCs as players or is he really firing on players getting swarmed by the cops?

Per the OP, he is basically brand new to the game, so I assume he does not know what CG means and he is referring to NPCs as players. Instead of people being smug and using jargon and abbreviations that most newcomers are not going to understand, they could respond with coherent answers. Remember how hard it was the first time you played this game?

Dude, I have. I have tried to be very clear with him and yet he hops in here every couple of days to give a half answer.

Aslo, he could easily ask "what does CG mean?" Considering that 5 people have asked him if he's in the CG but instead he just ignores it.

Read post #24 and #25

Also, after reading post #24 I'm convinced that there are no players involved in any of this. I bet $100 the op is confusing npc's for players.

What you are seeing are not players, but NPC's (non-player characters) that are wanted. It is part of the game mechanics. Hope that helps. Also, you need to deal enough damage to get the bounty. As a rule of thumb, once their shields go down, you can wait for their hull to get down to 20% and then start firing and you will still get the bounty. My guess is you are waiting too long or not doing enough damage.
