New guy with Vista 32 (oh noes!)

Hiya. So anyway, I have a trusty but ancient gaming rig which up until now has never...let me repeat that...NEVER...let me down. It can play the latest games..you name it. Seeing I was planning on upgrading this summer and this just went to Gamma...smartest choice would be to wait, right? Yeah...nah. I jumped in... Once installed and first time starting up I had everything crossed...I couldn't even look at the screen I was expecting the "dong" and "runtime error". But no...loaded up pretty well. Ok first hurdle successfully overcome. So now I was expecting ridiculous slow down once in the game itself..also because I only have a dual threaded processor and the minimum for this is quad.

BUT NO...WOW. This game plays like a dream..smooth as silk. Never slows down even in dogfights..you name it. I can do everything and anything. The only slight slowdown I had was last night after a 4 hour stint in a really busy station with all sorts going on. The guys are genius at programming..they have created a masterpiece of software which will work with anything. Amazing.

So yeah if you're worried about making the leap and cannot wait like me, these are my specs:

AMD 7750 Dual-Core processor 2.70ghz
RAM: 4GB
Vista 32 Bit
AMD Radeon HD6850

BTW: could not find any information online whether it would work with Vista 32bit so made this for others who might be worried about it not working...

There is no technical reason for the game to not work on 32-bit Vista. Even Vista (NT 6.0) is the same major internal revision as Windows 8.1 (NT 6.3), and 99.9% of what the latter can execute, Vista can execute (assuming it's got 32-bit executables in this case).

That said GHDW is probably correct. It's not officially supported and you won't get official help if you do run into issues.

it does run on vista when it want to alot of error but even so its not made for vista i did run it couple of time but i update to windows 7 do to alot of error and still having major issue with all the bug

I've ran ED (thanks Dave!) on the Win 10 trial/test release I have on an old Athlon 630, GTS 250 and 4 GB ram machine it runs fine at 720 (30 - 40 FPS) so it might we worth having a go with a much more efficient OS that's currently free for several months.

Well it's running perfectly fine on my machine thus far...fingers crossed! I have a laptop running Win 7 (which can no way handle this game with it's pseudo-GPU/mobo set up) and to be honest, for gaming I prefer Vista anyway since it has less crud to uninstall/steal valuable RAM or CPU. Win 7 was made for social networking rubbish and aps/cloud integration blah blah touch screen smudgey fingers on sticky screen etc. as all the new OS's are. Vista is more barebones...which I prefer for a gaming rig. But next machine I am building will be a Win 7 machine since Win 8 is just a smart-phone OS and pointless for gaming. Win 10 will be too new...

Sorry but I don't think your OS is the problem. It's more likely to be a software conflict or outdates drivers i.e. your system is not optimised... This game runs perfectly fine on Vista as does any new game out there. I am proof of that... Viva la Vista! :D

Vista and 32bit, it's bad and worse combined!

But you can't explain why...? hmmmm I have no idea what people have against Vista apart from the fact it's fashionable to bash it because of something they read once a long time ago. It plays Crysis easily without any problems. It plays the latest games without problems. Mass Effect 3 completed withoug any probs/bugs/crashes/latency/conflicts. It will play Dragon Age:Inquisition without any probs...

It is stable, never crashes, fast not a resource hog like the latest rubbish OS which are biased towards social networking/aps/cloud what has that to do with gaming???? Ever wondered why the minimum specs for Win 8 is 4 gigs and need at least 8 for decent speeds? Yep...all the useless crud it was designed for.

Call me mad: but after using Win 7 and Win 8 I much prefer Vista for a gaming machine. Pity it's not supported anymore to be honest... Win 8 is an abomination and even though it's pretty with all the aps and touch screen/cloud integration, for gaming it's absolutely horrible and a huge resource hog. And I'm a gamer with over 65 games in my Steam account...all run perfectly with my Vista gaming machine.

edit: oh ok, tell a lie the only game I had a problem with is Space Engineers which is a small indy space game only available on Steam. The company who makes it is about a 3 person company...tiny with tuny budget. It needs 64bit to run online but weirdly runs perfectly on 32 bit offline. I put that down to rubbish programing TBH..the proof is in this game which is also a space sim game and runs perfect. ;)

I am running vista 64 on my home PC (gen 1 quad core) but with a good graphics card I run at high settings quite happily. My "work" pc is a dual core running win7 64 with an older graphics card and it runs quite happily at medium settings. I will be upgrading this spring, but till then I am happilly zooming around in my space truck keeping workers happy, and buying myself pointless stuff I will never use, like guns :)

Nice...! I salute you fellow Vista suffererrrr...errr...I mean friend. :D Seriously...I think Microsoft should think about making Vista 2015 for those who want a simple and uncluttered barebones system ;)
