New Intel = huge improvement! But need help stting up 4790k and GTX 970

Firstly, many, many thanks to those who helped my confirm I had a CPU bottleneck. My old AMD fx-6200 and crappy motherboard would cause my gtx 970 to judder like crazy in stations all lowest settings. Now I have butter smooth stations on ultra!

Still some issues though...
While testing in the training station I realised that any amount of supersampling causes massive judder, even if I turn other settings right down. Can anyone use SS in stations or is this just how it is?

I can now play horizons planet surface butter smooth on LOW settings (better than before when no settings worked at all!) but can't really turn up much. Ambient occlusion in particular causes sickening judder even if all other settings are low.

So anyone with a similar rig who can suggest tweaks and appropriate settings? I've not overclocked anything yet but happy to look into it if that's what's required to squeeze a little more out of Horizons... or possilbly people are getting better results with stock and I need to alter some settings somewhere?

Intel i7 4790k
MSI Z97 Gaming 5
MSI GTX 970 Gaming
8gb memory
DK2 Runtime 6.0.0.0
Nvidia driver 358.7

Did you try turning the HMD image quality slider down a bit ?
If you turn on SS 1.5 but lower the image slider it can still make a big difference to the overall quality compared to no SS and the image slider at max

Yep, still major judder in the training station with SS 1.5 and 75% image slider.

Have a try with 361.43 Nvidia driver see if that can help squeeze a few extra fps

I sometimes go back to my 4K monitor just to give my eyes a break and certainly noticed a difference with the latest driver

Managed to find a decent setup with high terrain and most settings on med or high with a small overclock (ED is really unstable with any higher clocking). Still cant really use SS though in stations or on planets but things are definitely better than before!

Try SDK0.5, i have a similar setup to you Mulbin. Make sure your V-sync is switched to adaptive, in Nvidia settings.. SS1.5 is important because no SS is ill :)
I tried overclocking and it burns an after image of the login screen in my main monitor! :):):)?? :-(

I tried .6 before and .5 i thought was better.. it works well very smooth.. 0.8 still fails for me because it forces full frame sync (direct mode) and unless u have a computer from the future its nasty.
Which makes me worry about the cv1 and 90fps with sdk1.0 :-/
I have to say thanks for all the posts and suggestions from this forum myself to get the game to work as well as it now does with trying different things and working out what works and doesent... :)

Oh another thing which help'd for me was to set the computers ram to sync with the cpu and set its timing by setting in BIOS to the first level 'XMP' (or something similar) which set the RAM to 1600Mhz, it defaulfts to 1333.
