New Laptop. Fuzzy Text

Just got a new laptop to replace my 4 yo potato to that ran on Medium at 15 to 40 FPS.

It's the same resolution and Auto detect settings put it at High with a rock steady 60 FPS. It is indeed more detailed and a lot smoother, however...

Except in a station facilities, all the text is really blurry, especially the loading screen messages. Turning down HUD brightness improved the HUD a little, but it's still much more blurred than my old potato.

Any idea why, or what settings I should be fiddling with?

Is it the neon orange that is giving you gyp? I use a modified HUD colour scheme to change the orange to a more pleasant colour.

<MatrixRed>0.7, 0.08, -0.08</MatrixRed>
<MatrixGreen> 0, 1, 1 </MatrixGreen>
<MatrixBlue> 0.15, -0.15, 1</MatrixBlue>

Gives good result, no fuzzy text, no eye-strain and keeps radar icons correct and "portraits" reasonable:

Its not just the orange, it's even the grey text while loading, which is why it had me befuddled.

Are you running a resolution other than the native resolution of the laptop's display?

Yes this exactly, just because your laptop is running its optimal resolution outside the game doesn't mean the game is set to the same resolution, you need to check the settings in the graphics menu to see if it needs adjusting. I have a relatively new laptop and it runs fine so it's shouldn't be a problem.

Doh ! Last place I looked, should have been the first. Who would have thought ED would NOT choose the current resolution.
Sort and still running at 60fps.

Thanks all.
