New laptop...will it play?

I don't like at all this configuration. You get a mid to low-range processor with integrated graphics.....not really suitable for this game. Also, look for something with a bigger SSD and 16GB RAM....which would make way more sense, than this optane joke.
If you are really tight on budget, look for an used notebook...that would be a better machine in this price-range.

Out of expierience I would never consider a HP. Sounds like a hair dryer when you open word only.

@Firehawke I don't believe you will get a suitable gaming laptop in this price range, sorry. :(

My laptop for work, a HP Probook is perfect for... work. (HP ProBook 450 G6 15.6 inch i5 8GB 256GB Laptop - Zilver).
And it's pretty expensive.

I wouldn't consider it for anything else but work.
(Maybe Minecraft).

@Firehawke, I'd suggest looking for a laptop (desktop's are bit cheaper and easier to find in your price range), that has at least a 2GB graphics chip from either Nvidia or AMD.

Will it be able to play Planet Zoo?

No,
the comment Luuknoord made about the dedicated graphics card is an easy way to make a first selection on which laptops will not run PZ
This game really needs good specs.

Imo, I think a laptop which could run PZ really well, is hitting the $1300-$1500 range (for a desktop slightly cheaper)
Maybe ask on this forum or on steam which players are using a laptop for PZ and ask for their specs and about the performance.
You'll get a better view on the specs.

Personally don't look at the brand name, the actual components matters more to me.
I own a HP and it runs PZ really good. There are better gaming pc's but there's a different price tag to those.

I have a gaming laptop that runs it. It's an Asus. I don't know the exact specs (I had it recommended to me by a colleague who builds gaming PC's; he looked up Planet Zoo and did all the research for me). If someone can tell me how to find the specs then I'd be happy to reproduce them here for you when I get the chance. I don't know how much it would cost in your native currency, though (it was 1300NZD, which was a really good price for what I got).

Granted, the only thing on this laptop is Planet Zoo (and Megaquarium, but that doesn't require nearly as much power). I believe if I tried to add any more high-specs games it would slow down pretty quickly.
