New Launch Trailer

Shame they are giving a kind of false view of the game. I see they have "Not Actual Game Footage" on it but the ships don't even handle like that! Also why has this been snuck out and not trumpeted on the forums by Frontier?
.
That said, it's very nice.

Love that trailer.

I like the "walk ups" to the ships - because it gives you the sense of immense scale of ship that you're (trying) to fly. Plus, it offers a sense of "yeah, that's me about to take off on an adventure (immersion). Not sure about those super quick 180 degree turns, but perhaps if I had a HOTAS set-up that'd be possible (?) - I re-posted to Twitter to get some of my slow-adopter pals into the excitement.

Hm ... why is it so focused just on combat?
The trailer reminds me more of an FPS game ... which ED isn't at all!
Not that impressed TBH.

I have to say the more I watch it the more misleading it is. It makes it look like a fast paced shooter and it certainly isn't that......

Hmmm, its a nice enough trailer but a bit narrow in scope......also, was I the only one that thought it felt a little like the Battle above Coruscant scene from Star Wars in places?, hmmmmmmm, pretty, but not sure.

I hate to be "that" guy, but its full of false promises / mechanics that just isn't there yet..
Walking or seeing your character aside...

They show a set of pilots (friends) and the group mechanics aren't there. The first jump sequence "slaving drives" was cancelled and overall the combat is just over the top and no way like that in game..

Looks great tho and will sell tons of copies, but will lead to a bunch of upset gamers when they figure out the game is far from that..

This trailer is HORRIBLE..

My God.. what were they thinking? It's like a 12 year old made it. It doesn't represent the game at all and is extremely misleading. I love this game.. hope to God they pull this dreck before too many see it.

The team doing this should have been allowed to play Elite : Dangerous first.

Guys, I love your game, but this is not a video of your game, or even one that represents what your game is about. This is all spectacle, and no substance.

In one way, I say "Great job!" to the team that made this, as it is a great video, but in the context of something supposed to represent a game, I feel it fails.
Of course, I suppose the point is to sell copies, which makes me feel that they don't believe the actual gameplay has mass market appeal, so they just tuned the combat up to 11 for the trailer, and hoped to draw in the general public.
