New Mercenary Power - A New Force Outside Superpower Politics

🔧 [Suggestion] Introduce a Mercenary Power – A New Force Outside Superpower Politics

🛰️ Context:

Powerplay 2.0 has brought a ton of improvements, but there’s still something missing — a true mercenary-aligned Power. Right now, all major powers are tied to a superpower (Empire, Federation, Alliance), or themed around pirates (Archon Delaine) or mysticism (Antal). But there’s no Power that represents what many of us actually are:

Independent contractors. Guns-for-hire. Professionals working for profit, reputation, and tactical power — not for flags.

đź’ˇ The Concept:

Introduce a non-aligned Mercenary Power — a faction built around a charismatic leader who rose from the chaos of the galaxy to unite fractured mercenary groups, security corps, and freelancers under one banner.

Not pirates. Not anarchists. Not politicians.

Mercenaries.

🧱 Lore Pitch:

“In a galaxy ruled by ideals and delusions, contracts are the only truth.”
— Commander Cassian Reeve, Founder of the Freeblade Consortium

Cassian Reeve, a former Imperial Auxiliary Officer turned private security magnate, watched the superpowers burn credits and lives in pointless turf wars. After walking away from his post, he began organizing freelance combat pilots, security squadrons, and protection firms into a new structure: The Freeblade Consortium — an autonomous coalition of mercenaries who fight not for banners, but for balance, leverage, and paid loyalty.

The Freeblade Consortium now controls dozens of independent systems through exclusive security contracts, tactical diplomacy, and economic influence . They are not pirates, nor saviors. They are professionals.

🛠️ Gameplay Identity:

CategoryRole
AlignmentIndependent (no Alliance/Federation/Empire ties)
ThemeTactical neutrality, professionalism, paid loyalty
FocusCombat, contracts, dynamic missions, flexible perks
NarrativePower through cooperation and leverage, not politics
Powerplay PerksBonuses to mercenary-style activities: multi-mission chains, BGS impact missions, advanced bounty contracts, military interdiction, “open contract” events

🧪 What This Adds to the Game:

  • A Power for players who don’t want to be tied to a superpower or moral narrative.
  • A natural home for combat players who aren’t pirates, just professionals.
  • A faction with flavor that appeals to roleplayers, freelancers, and tactical thinkers.
  • New dynamic Powerplay mechanics like “open bounties,” inter-Power sabotage contracts, or security blockades.

🎯 Who This Would Appeal To:

  • Players who like PvE or PvP combat, but don’t want to be an outlaw or a soldier.
  • Players who want to “do everything” but from a neutral, self-driven standpoint.
  • Long-time players tired of choosing between Empire flair and Federation red tape.
  • Roleplayers and BGS fans looking for a new kind of narrative.

🚀 Final Thoughts:

Elite has always allowed us to play as explorers, soldiers, pirates, and traders — but Powerplay forces us into ideological boxes. This suggestion is about adding a Power that finally reflects what many of us really are:

Professionals.
Loyal to the job.
Loyal to the contract.
Loyal to nothing else.

Frontier: give us a mercenary Power that walks the line between control and chaos.
