Donations of Credits yield 27 Merits for 1 Million credits.
Donations of physical goods yields much more merits. I just did a Tritium Donation mission, 108 Tritium. which cost me 5.8 Million credits, but yielded 2094 merits.
That's pretty good for 5 minutes work.

One thing to watch for - looks like Undermining is 3x worse payouts. Supporting your own power seems to work ok though

I get 18 merits for donating 1 mil for Li Yong Rui
183 for donating 108t tobacco, way less for wine,fruit etc...

Is donating tritium a welfare mission ?

the donating missions merits reward are tied to the price of the merchandise of course. Tritium, gold, silver are some of the best ones

What other missions award merits?

Donation missions and ship scans (now 12 merits each) have had a huge buff (in Reinforcement Systems now.) 108 Tritium at 5.3M credits got me 8300 merits. So what I recommend is fly to Allied stations in reinforcement states and scoop up tritium and metal donation missions. At the tritium rate you can be rank 100 with maybe 550M credits. That's more than acceptable.

Anyone have tips for finding stations that reliably give cargo donation missions? I'm pledged to Aisling Duval but every station I check has like 2 or 3 support missions and they're only ever to donate credits
